Sorry to hear that. Especially where you were! >:(

My NYC mentality is always lock it, don't park it where you can't see it, and check on it regularly! Hanging around with you guys used to a more laid back environment, I get teased about that and start getting lax myself. It could happen anywhere. Nowhere's safe, and I'll go back to being paranoid and following my rules. I also never go somewhere and disappear for hours without it being secured or watched by somone. ;)

Not likely - I have two friends who have had bikes stolen.  One had his found by the police months late when a chop shop (in Milwaukee) was busted.  Mostly cars, but a few bikes.  His was found in pieces...  His insurance company (Country Insurance) played hardball and had not paid a dime because he could not prove his bike was stolen (it's absence from his garage was not enough evidence for them).  They were days away from a court date when the remnants were discovered by the police.

The second was more recent, but he has had little satisfaction from the police and no word of the whereabouts of his bike.

Damn, that sux! I know when I was down in LA for one of the 100th Anniv. kick-offs there were something like 40+ bikes stolen out of motel parking lots, they did catch a van crossing into Mexico with 4 of them. Motel cameras caught a rental van going around and 4 guys with dolleys, etc. Hope they caught them suckers too.

Get a copy of the police report and post the bike info on the forums, etc. Let's hope they  :police:catch the suckers!!  :rifle:

I've had 2 stolen in the 80's, both in S Florida. Not a good feeling. Didnt want them back either unless they found them right away. To make a long story short, found one after 2 months abandoned on the Florida Tpke all tore up. Lock, no lock, some one wants it bad enough, they are going to get it.

I never thought it would happen to me either.  Today, my red 2005 FLHTCSE2 was stolen out of the garage at my workplace in San Francisco.  It was locked, and the ignition switch was broken off and left on the garage floor.  The garage attendant even saw the thief leave wearing my helmet.  I am still hoping that my bike will be found.

every time I pass a place selling t-shirts that say 'ride it like you stole it'  I get real pissed and tell the assh-le selling them,  that I hope someone steals his.   why would anyone want to buy a shirt that says that.   to me it makes them a target (and I have a real good aim) 8)

I was up at Club HOG and the 105th in Milwaukee.  I took some cable locks along, but didn't use them.  I'm sorry to hear that you lost the bike.

I may have missed it, but has a description or a photo of the stolen bike been posted?  Is there anything distinctive about the bike that might bring it to someone's attention.  It may be trashed for parts, but if not it would be great if someone noticed the bike and could report it as stolen.
