Welcome aboard to a fellow SERK pilot!  :2vrolijk_21: As was already pointed out, get the VIN run in the HD system and see where you stand on the '110" recall', get her tuned up with SERT, etc. and better breathing. Good to go!

Took my bike to my local dealer(who is usually pretty good)last Thurs. for routine service. The service manager checked my Vin# and said my SERK was not on the list for the gasket recall. I did not disagree with him at that time because I didn't want it done until necessary.I can't see pulling apart a motor that has no problems.Friday the service writer called and said my bike was ready to pick up and he did me a favor and did the recallfor me.WTF .I have no recourse it just pisses me off that people don't listen to the consumer. I wonder if they were doing the job without compensation the service writer would have done me such a big favor? I try not to be any idiot about such things all people make mistakes but this one really pisses me off. KB :soapbox: :soapbox:

GH - it's a long winter here in Northern IL - and it starts pretty soon...   I made it thru last winter by building myself a motor.  So - if you wanna drop your bike off - leave lots and lots of money  - and a list - I'll make it thru this winter too!   ;D

Howie it's just our luck those members here that are really good at wrenching always live far away. :( If I had one close they would never have to buy beer. From me supplying beer when they work on mine to me supplying beer to watch them work on others bikes while I learn their fridge would never be empty. ;D

That's a very interesting twist in the story!
- You do not ask for it.
- The bike is actually not part of the campaign.
- The dealer does the work anyhow.
Most dealers do tell us that they have to order the parts for the campaign, and that there is a kind of waiting list. And your dealer has the parts in such abundance, that they do work on bikes where it is not necessary and not ordered by the owner? I'd ask them how this actually happened, and what they exactly did. You should have a detailed "invoice" for warranty purpose.

I was thrilled to get my new (to me) 08 SERK.

But after reading the problems people are having with these bikes, I fear that I have made a very expensive mistake.

Have I?  :nervous:

Absolutely not - enjoy the ride.

Louis . My bike Was on the recall campaign they pumped in the vin # on my 07 Heritage. The service writer thinks he wae doing me a favor.I have never had any bad issues with the dealer befor I think the service writer is at fault here.

If it wasn't part of the recall, who paid for parts and a days work?  The service manager must have brown eyes (being so full of it).  I bet if you check with Mo Co, they'll tell you that you had a recall.  Just don't understand why he told you differently.  :nixweiss: :nixweiss:
Did he do a leakdown test also   ;)
