Friday afternoon, I had to ride in rain and got a good old fashion drenching on the way home for 45 minutes.  I had my rain gears on (jacket and pants).  I had a HD rain jacket and a pair of pants from Eastern Mountain.  When I got home, I had water in my boots and to my surprise, My shirt was soaked wet.  The Harley rain jacket leaked through 
I thinking about getting a Frogg Toggs suit and burn the freakin jacket from HD.  or is there a better gore-tex gears out there?
I guess I should be glad it won't be as expensive as a leaky engine.

Hunter I have 2 sets of HD rain gear. I just picked up a set off rain gators as well. I have never had a problem with the hD stuff. I also keep it hangingg up when not in use. if I am goingg on a road trip it gets packed, other wise it is in the hall closet.

Just guessing that the rain came in around your neck. If it's bad I tuck a hand towel around my neck and it helps.

Hey Hunter, before you get the Frog Toggs. Me and 3 of my buddies planed a trip to the Air Force Museum, about a 400 mile round trip for us. It was raining but we went anyway. All 3 of them had F.T. and I had on a 2 piece First Gear. When we got there they all had wet croutches and rearends and I was dry. The only thing about them is they don't breath but they keep you dry. The thing I like most about them , they'er cheap unlike everything else on this site !!!!

I've had my H-D rain gear for 6 or 7 years now. It never  gets hung up. It stays rolled in a ball in the saddlebag.

Have ridden in a tropical storm after leaving the 100th in Milwaukee.
Laconia in 04...well it seemed like every time I rode in 04 it rained.

You need to make sure that the jacket is zipped up all the way and that the neck strap is tight. It doesn't breath as well as I would like, but the alternative of sitting on the side of the road waiting for it to stop.....well that just is not going to happen. A little liquid sunshine never hurt anything.

If there is a better breathing set that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I might be interested

Thanks guys.  I guess the Froggs Toggs are out of the picture now.  I don't need a hole in the pants and spend hours cleaning the chrom.  My rain gear is always in the saddle bag.  I ride everyday if it's not raining when I leave the house.  I had my jacket zipped up but still got wet.  Even my arms were wet.  Now that you mentioned and I'm thinking about it, it might have been perspiration if it's not breazing.  I like to get a discent Gore-Tex jacket without paying an arm and a leg and it has to be very light so I can pack it in the bag.  I know there are some threads on the site about reain gears.  I'm gonna to some search and see what I find.

The HD pac-lite stuff is gore-tex and not too expensive...also packs smallish.

Other than that, Arc-terx (sp?) is some of the best chit out there, but it's geared more towards outdoor activity, though it can be adapted.  I wear their bib style gore-tex ski pants...love em

I have the Tour Master stuff...  I use it about once a week, and stay pretty dry in the rain here in NC which gets pretty bad some days.

Stays on my KLR (the rain bike) - the SERK has some crap I picked up at a Gander Mountain, emergency only.

I'm cheap and broke most of the time.

That is also true for the HD rain suit. I have a hole in my pant leg from where it hit the exhaust.

According to HD, pack lite gears are hear RESISTANCE (?!?!?),  I guess it means occasional touch of the pipe should be OK.
I have a pair of pants from Eastern Mountain (Gore-Tex) very very nice and lite.  My left leg touched the pipe on the old RK many times and no problem.  One day I tried to get something out of the bag on the opposite site and chit, I got a 2" hole on top of my left thigh.  What I like about it is full leg zipper, elastic at the bottom, flap over the zipper that has about 1" of Velcro every 8"-10".  Very easy on/off.

I hate sweating in rain gears.

Actually, I think it means they are deaf due to the close proximity to your loud pipes!
