And I've been following up with the Sylvania branch that was OE.  So far have found at least one person who actually knows the product.  No confirmation of ongoing or planned production though.  Have been promised a call back "in a few days."

Will do.  Have absolutely nothing yet to be either optimistic or pessimistic about.  Just starting the research path.  When I learn something either way will pass it along.

I am not going up to the shop tonight to get bulb numbers. From my dealer I got 3 PIAA bulbs. One for the headlight and one each for the passing lamps. The passing lamps are just the bulbs and not the whole lamp assy. I can tell you there is a difference. I wanted HID but the parts manager talked me out of it. I am a happy camper.

You can NOT have more than 10 bikes.  Not cool to have to drop trou to come up with enough digits to count spotlights!

A cool bike with Transformer handlebars and these nice looking LED bulb spotlight units rolled in.  Complete lens and bulb assembly.  Originally from a Sylvania subsidiary sold through Kuryakyn at a dealer show or rally of some kind.  Not on anyone's current product ledger.  Apparently done at the rally show to gauge interest.

Were a good match to probably a 5000-6000k HID headlight.  Trying to source them.  Nothing real for a sitrep yet though.

Well, I've run the bike a couple of times at night to check out my Harley HID Dual bulb headlamp kit $524 (+tax and labor) investment and I have to say the jury is still out on this upgrade. On the positive, it does have a wider and brighter beam on low.  However, I was expecting more punch and wow factor for an HID system.   :nixweiss:  Perhaps its because of the dual bulb headlight system on the CVO vs just a single lens HID. I'm not sure what it is about it and why I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be.   :nervous:

I was going to take it to Las Vegas on Saturday (from Seattle) for a company 3 day meeting there.  :bananarock: :drink:  I was thinking the road between Reno and LV at night would provide some real opportunity to determine whether this upgrade proves out.  And no, I wouldn't drive that entire stretch at night or even a small portion of it.  Just enough miles to get out in the desert or desolation without any cages and city lights to see the effect.  In any case, I'm flying instead, I think.

In any case, the two Aux. lamps are now so yellow in comparison to the HID Headlamp that its starting to bug me.

Kevin,
The Extronics dual digital igniter kit was like $400 from h-d dude Jim including S&H and was a breeze (35 minutes ) to install. The friggin thing looks like a 747 landing light on hi beam! I am very happy.

Neal, I used the PIAA Xtreme Whites and they're as close as I've seen. Never found anything to quite match perfectly yet. ;)

Hoist! 8)

Hoist do you have the actual Piaa part number for the spots?

Was it just a glass bulb change or did you change the whole bulb- black 90 degree plastic assembly ?

Was it a direct fit or did you have to adjust it some ?

Thx

Can't believe I missed this thread. I have a set of the Kurakyn LED passing lights. Great match for the HID. (don't ask how much I paid for them :shocked2:) Anyway, my buddy had put HIDs on his Dodge Magnum and one day I saw it pulling in the lot with matching passing lights. Asked him where he got them from. Turns out they're LED bulbs plugged into his shells. I did a little research and seems they are availble for most passing lights if anyone's interested. Heres the only place I looked. http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/H3_11-WHP.htm
The ones my buddy had were the 9 LED style. Don't know if they'd fit in our housing or not. For the price they might be worth a shot.

I bought the PIAA Extreme White Plus (2 of the type 880 bulbs) from RacingLab.com, part no. PIAA 18880, for $51.95 (free std shipping at that price)--it was the lowest price on the web at that time.  They arrived quickly, were easy to install, and work fine.  PIAA says they put out as much light as typical 55 watt bulbs, but only use 27 watts.  Don't know if that's true, but they are bright, and at 4000K, they are a good match for my 4300K HID headlights.

BTW, I have the Xetronics digital HID (dual H9 type kit) that I got from HD-dude.

Here's the link to those 880s:  http://www.racinglab.com/pixtwhpl8hal.html
