New Seat
« on: September 18, 2008, 10:23:27 PM »

I couldn't take the stock seat on the '06 SE Fat Boy any longer (I have had it a whopping 4 days too) and I ordered a Mustang Wide Vintage Solo with Backrest.  The seat is like night and day compared to the stock seat but now my problem is, what do I do with the foot or so between the end of the solo and the hole where the screw used to go on the rear fender.  Mustang used to make fender bibs but I don't see them in their catalog anymore.  Harley has fender bibs but they look like they bolt to the underside of the seat and, of course, the Mustang doesn't have those bolts..

Any ideas?

Do you mean these?  http://www.mustangseats.com/softail/softail06.shtml#i  You might also want to look at the ones in the FLH section.  Hope this helps.

You can also find leather companies that will custom make fender bibs for you.  That way you can add some color to the bib, as opposed to plain black.

Does Harley make those chrome covers for the tour pack mounts you have on your bike?

Hmmm, interesting. The description said '09's, and I was wondering if I could use them on my '04. If you've had them work on your '05 I might have to add them to the "list". :2vrolijk_21:

Gary, that was for the new 09 detachable system.  For our stuff you need 48182-05.  Harley only lists it for Softails.  So you'll never find it with a touring reference.  Same detachable points though.  It works just fine.

Kewl, thanks. :2vrolijk_21: There is several different fitments when you look up that P/N on MoCo site the detachable points I'm most looking wanting to cover are the ones for the KTP, the other points (rider backrest) usually are occupied.

Just checked and the '09 fits the rear nips for the detachable tour pak and not the larger diameter front docking points.

That kit covers the docking points for tour pak using the 05 tour pak rack.  Those are the rear most pair of points of each side and are the ones not hidden behind the saddlebags.

I've got them on the SEEG.  Not even sure they'd fit behind the saddlebags.  They do stick out a bit beyond the length of the docking points themselves.  The other docking points are pretty well hidden behind the bags too.  It's not that you can't see them.  But you do have to look for them.

That covers me then. I had my rack upgraded under warranty because of cracking of the old style rack. Thanks. :2vrolijk_21:
