Just hit 20 today and I think I'm ready for my second purchase of a rear tire. Front is still good to go... lessee, no burn outs, corners very well, Big Butt? Where's old man Hubbard when you need him - please advise!  [smiley=bigok.gif]

I don't know, MrWeCVO.  I'm getting 14+ on the 1st two back tires and changed the front at 28+ and it could have gone easily another 2K, but was going on a Rain-Run...a week of rain riding ea. day!  Before this bike, I've never managed to get more than 10K miles on a back tire, but for some reason this SEEG does better.....I think I remember some claim of a 'higher-mileage' tire coming on these bikes????    [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  spyder

I've never gotten 14k on a bike tire.  That's nice.  How thin was the tread when it came off each time?

I remember being a bit concerned when Mobe had to get a tired at 5600 miles.  But mine is sitting right now at 10k with just a smidge over 4/32 remaining so the red bike is doing pretty good.  I think minimum spec is supposed to be 1/32 but I had to go that thin.  Usually replace when it gets down to 2/32 figuring that's a nice time to start over.

TwoLane, on both of the rear tires that had 14,400 or so miles on them, I had enough tread to ride for another 500 to 1000 miles before completely bald in middle of the tire, but not enough to feel ok on a wet road.  I didn't actually measure the tread depth, but feel sure it wouldn't pass the lincoln head penny test.  Har!   [smiley=nervous.gif] spyder

I have about 15k on my 04. I changed my rear tire at about 9k and it looks like I will probably change this one around the same mileage.
I would like to pass on some advice I was given by an old riding partner. He said, when you start looking at your tire- replace it! Doing this probably wouldn't cost you more than 1 extra set of tires over the life of your bike-If you have ever had a blowout at speed you will understand-this is cheap insurance.

Profound words of wisdom........I concur.  The two things that I am most anal about, my brakes and my tires.  I don't cut any corners with either one.

This should give everyone a good idea how much more I enjoy riding my 05 SEEG than I did my 03 Fatboy! [smiley=2vrolijk_20.gif] I have 1700+ miles on my SEEG since 6-6-05. I got my FB on 7-8-02 and when I traded it in it ONLY had 8700+ miles on it! [smiley=banana.gif] My wife hated the color at first but the ride has helped it to grow on her! [smiley=laugh.gif]

Just want everyone to know that I really am enjoying my SEEG.  5200 miles since I got it memorial day. Have changed the seat, got rid of the antenna, ordered some Hogtunes, and am ordering the Progressive 440's soon.  But still have almost 4k more in trips this summer that I know of.  So contrary to what I am seeing on some threads, I am not expecting the bike to be perfect from the MoCo, and I am not betting on them to help me much if I need em, I put 85k on my 95 FLHT without getting too much help from them, and will ride the heck out of this in the next 2 years to turn up any major issues within the warranty. Yeah, 'er 'uh, Fla_Eagle,
Welcome to the Greatest Site on the Planet!  I've got a little over 15K on my Ultra.  Just put the fourth rear (Dunlop 140) on, and second front (Stock Dunlop) before Myrtle in May.  Don't do burnouts or powershifts.  Will admit to agressive riding, mostly WFO on Interstates.  "Led Sleds" with Big Torque, will flat eat up tires.  Like your wise friend, when I see high-speed flat spots, it's comin' off, and a new one is goin' on.  I figger if I can't afford tires, I can't afford to ride.  Later--HUBBARD

I have a 03 with 42,000 on it. I'm on my 4th rear tire, I've changed the front once. The only trouble I've had was a busted throttle cable at about 35,000 miles. Except for mufflers, I had Rinehart mufflers put on at my 1,000 mile checkup. Since then the right side muffler fell off last October while riding in New Mexico. Last month while having my oil changed, found a crack in the exhaust pipe on the rear cylinder. While i was waiting on the new exhaust pipe I was cleaning the left muffler and found a crack in the same place the other muffler broke at. Other than that I haven't  had a bit of trouble. Just like to ride.

Wallbanger, sounds like you've had good luck w/ the '03 so far.  And you've got the miles of smiles to prove it!  Was your throttle cable ever lubed during regular 5,000 mile intervals as prescribed or was that one of those things on the service list that was ignored due to the difficulty of doing it?  I know a lot of people are claiming that it is a new type of cable that doesn't require regular maintenance/re-oiling.    [smiley=confused5.gif]   spyder

11,000 miles and still using the original tires. I still have plenty tread left,I might try to find a deal at MB for the fall bike fest or Biketoberfest. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
