Florida and Oklahoma are both very good teams but anybody who saw USC dismantle Penn State and then watched Utah thoroughly thrash Alabama knows that the argument for a playoff is stronger than ever.

Yep, need the top 8 teams in the final polls.  Have the whole month of December wasted right now or do it in January.

The system is close as it is.  As far as I'm concerned, Florida won its bowl game, just like USC, Utah and even Texas did.  No more, no less.  Those four alone would make a good two-more game series and the winner would most likely be deserving of the title National Champions.  The playoff series could use the present bowl system making the bowl games much more interesting than they are now, each conference champion in D1 should be seeded, inicluding lower conferences such as SunBelt, and the MAC, just like the NCAA basketball tournament, and the championship game could be played in the same rotating site location presently used.

But this scenario would involve actually playing for the title, not voting for it.

It'll happen as soon as the BCS figures out a way to control the $$$$$$$$ iinvolved.

Agree!!  A playoff system would settle all this.

The record books will show Florida as the National Champs, but I couldn't blame Utah for arguing the point.  My guess is that if we did take the current top four or so... say Florida, Utah, Texas, and USC, Florida would still come out on top - JMHO

BTW, my hats off to Tebow.  What an outstanding athlete :2vrolijk_21:

your a tool, I cannot have imagined a better game

Sean, you're biased. You're a Gator fan. I wasn't cheering for either team. And I'm not a USC fan either. I attended the University of Maine and played football for them. They're Division III and not very good most years, so my team doesn't count. I invited a couple of buddies over for some beer and football. We turned on the game hoping to watch the two best college teams in the country go at it. None of us gave a damn who won or who lost. What we got was two 2nd rate teams playing a game marred by the poorest officiating we've seen this year at either the college or the pro level. If the OU QB is the Hiesman winner then my dog is the 2nd coming of Joe Montana. And the QB for Florida needs a lesson or two in sportsmanship. Actually the entire Florida team could use some. Taunting an opposing teams' player on the ground possibly hurt on your own sideline is not my idea of how the game should be played. You're a good guy Sean and one of our country's true warriors. You deserve a few perks (LOL) so if Florida winning this game makes you happy, I'm happy for you. But the truth is, this game was one more nail in the coffin of the BCS system if you look at it through a non partison eye.

of course to the bias...  But there is so much tradition in College ball that makes it college ball that a play off is not feasible.  Take the NFL for example, all anyone really cares about is the play offs and super bowl.  The rest of the season is just passing time.  That would be a huge mistake with college.

you are WAY of course with Tebow - he didn't taunt anyone injured on the game, I watched every second of the game.  The guy is a literal saint - name another kid playing at his level that spent his spring and summer break doing missionary work.  He is about as nice a person as you can get - and that is from every person who has ever met him.  I had the pleasure of watching Tims first passes as a Gator in the Spring game in 06.  He is an amazing kid.

If you want to talk about unsportsmanlike - how about the kid who pulled on Harvins legs after making the tackle?  He should have been kicked off the field.

Hey Sean....I'm glad the SEC pulled another Championship outta the hat, er, computer ;D As much as I respect you and every man and women who donned a flak jacket, picked up a weapon, and helped draw the line in the sand and all who are true American Hero's; I think your wrong on this one man.

The NFL system of regular season games determines WHO makes it to the playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl is exactly what makes the NFL regular season so much fun in my book (Puttin aside many of all the rich, spoiled men who play in the NFL) . The end result from the NFL system is the team who wins the Super Bowl did so by playing those games on the field and did not rely on computer stats, etc ,etc...If you remember way back early in the season, I said I thought Florida was the best team in the country and still believe that; however, no matter how one spins it, none of us really know for sure under the current system. Utah is 13-0...PERIOD!...UTAH should be #1 is how I see it since there is no playoffs...Just my two cents  :2vrolijk_21:

Now...More serious issues....Has the board come out yet? Give us some good news if it has?  :nixweiss:

Agree!  They should add something like the red card in soccer.  Ref flashes the red card and you're out of the game.   Maybe several games.

Sean
I've said three times that I was viewing this game with no favorite team, hell no real knowledge of any of the players on either team. I made my judgements on what I saw transpire in the game I watched on TV last night and I stand by my statement that Tebow is a total jerkoff based on what I saw last night. I don't really care if he teaches Sunday school. So did Jimmy Carter and it didn't do much for his talents as POTUS.
