drod2020 - You want the bike & since you can afford it you might as well buy it.  Life is short - have fun while ya can.  As to the rebuild vs warranty - I am choosing the warranty option to keep future costs contained on this 110.  Had it rebuilt at 17k (leaking head gaskets/cylinders slipped). Now it has 26k on it & running strong - no leaks.

You will probably spend some more bucks to further modify this bike, but the SE version has a lot of stuff on it already plus ya got POWER.

Thank you for your service & best of luck on your decision.  Oh yeah, welcome to the board.  :2vrolijk_21:

Welcome aboard drod!!! Thanks for your service to this great nation and for putting yourself on the line to preserve and protect my freedom. I for one REALLY appreciate it and can't thank you enough. :2vrolijk_21:

About the SERK, you're talking to one of the biggest RK junkies around, and one of the loudest HD critic around too. I have a SERK3 too, the BEST RK HD ever made. Don't over extend yourself to get the bike, but if you can afford it, don't think twice about getting it. ANYTHING can be fixed. This chit ain't rocket science, but you might have to take it to a REAL engine guy to straighten it out if the MoCo can't get it right. But it ain't rocket science either, and the bike can be corrected. I've no regrets about mine and it will go to the grave with me. Hopefully no time soon. But the bike rules and I wouldn't hestitate one bit about getting it. I'd still get another one in a flash, even knowing everthing I know today about the issues! ;)

Good luck with your decision and thanks again for your service!

welcome to the CVO site from Washington State. :bananarock: I'd be inclined to buy a non cvo and go 103 stoker. Not a popular idea but just Mtcw.

I want to thank all of you for your honesty and immediate responses, as well as, welcoming me to the site.  I also want to say thanks for all of the support that you show for all of the troops over here.

If everything works out I hope to be a CVO owner upon my return to the states.

Welcome to the site from a fellow CPT.  I ordered my 08 SERK from Iraq last fall from my AAFES guy here in Germany and picked it up on R&R this past May and have never regretted it.

I'm still under 1500 miles, but no leaks, no problems and the 110 has plenty of power for me, for now at least.  I love all the extras that came standard on this bike...the oil cooler, the nicer grips & floorboards, wheels, paint job, etc.  Not to mention it's highly unlikely that I'll see another bike like mine in Germany.

Welcome to the site  Captain....   I have a nephew on that same adventure with you, in the Rakasans..  15 months is a long hump...

everybody on this site has ups and downs with their bikes....   I had a plain jane Road King Classic.....  beautiful bike..but it didnt sing to me....  i got the 05 SEEG and it is me...now it has a little sister in the FWDWG2...

If you are fixated on the SERK, go for it......   either put some cash away or buy the ext warranty for a rainy day and have a plan B

Thank you sir for your service...  get home safe
