Hmmm...buy the '00 now, and maybe the '10 next fall?  Sounds like a great plan, which one of you wants to run that one past my better half for approval? :P

I would get the 00 for now , it gets you in the CVO family. Most guys who get these bikes take extra care of them. It's less than half the price and if you get the 09 for 31k that will easyly turn into 40 grand real FAST. There's my 2 cents worth.   :)

I love the original SERG. I've wanted that very bike since it came out, but I couldn't afford it back then. I was looking at one for $17,000 Canadian, but in the end I went for broke. I picked up my 09 SERG today. Sure glad I did cause this bike is awesome. Maybe I'll even buy the 00 SERG too.

Just don't mention your future plans, that gives a year or so to work up the "classic" line, its to valuable to put big miles on, we need a "modern" tourer... yada yada...

So if I go with an '00, does the one I listed look like a good candidate, or should I hold out and hope a lower mileage model comes up between now and next spring?  This is the original owner, and he's got most of the maintenance receipts, no engine work outside of the race tuner.

The 00's have been very reliable  I think it depends on how much you have to pay.

You will not have a 6 speed, 6 gallon tank,  a 110,  and ABS.  Did the 00 have cruise???

The 00 has cruise and MP3 input, but no CD player. I don't know if the 110 makes that much difference this year in power and the 95 will definately hold together better. The new frame would be a advantage if your a tuner, but with a wet motor that it was designed for the power will double anyway. I think next year the Screaming part will be put back into the CVO line up.  Doc

Thanks for all the replies guys.  The bike I had the link for on Ebay is up to $13.5k with 5 hours left, I'm guessing it's going to push $14k, that's too rich for me with 34k miles.  I'm going to keep my eyes open for another clean, low-mile '00 and leave my name on the list for the '09 for now - i may also price out a new '09 FLRT and build it the way I want it - but I'll let you guys know which way I decide.  I appreciate all your input.

That will be expensive, the value will be an issue as well.  Bagger CVO's seem to retain their value much better than a stock bagger.    But it will be yours the way you want it and thats what important at the end of the day or during a ride.
