Bush Quits!
« on: September 27, 2008, 12:35:29 PM »

The following 'speech' was written recently by an ordinary Maine-iac [a resident of the People's Republic of Maine ]. While satirical in nature, all satire must have a basis in fact to be effective. This is an excellent piece by a person who does not write for a living. Lets have some constructive criticism and posting of facts to prove or disprove the statements in this piece. ::)

The speech George W. Bush might give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying 'My Fellow Americans.' Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.

I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: There's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people. I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media.

Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this 'blood for oil' thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq 's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied...People Died' crap either. If I were the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ' Clinton ' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you?

Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan,

(insert note here: yesterday, 9-26-08, Pakistani forces fired upon US Helicopters while operating within disputed borders of Afghanistan. This brought approval and cheers among the Pakistani civilians.)

a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he's going to destroy us. While he's doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to reelect him. He also thinks it's okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel . Did you sleep through high school?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor.'

Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well Fed Ex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times, USA Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with Stars.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient for years. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that's it. God bless what's left of America .

Some of you know what I mean. The rest of you, kiss off.

PS - You might want to start learning Farsi, and buy a Koran

I am sure history will put Bush down as the most miss understood president ever. He was so smart the rest of the world should have worshiped the ground he walked on.
The guy's a frigging dolt and won't be missed when he fades into obscurity.
JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION :2vrolijk_21:

Due to my current physical difficulties, many of my friends on this site worry about me becoming dependant on prescription medications. Some times if I'm having a bad day pain wise it shows it my posts. I'd say you are miles beyond such worries, indeed miles beyond any hope of intervention and rehabilitation. In short you must be totally narcotic dependant to even think such drivel let alone think any sane person on this website might be interested in it let alone agree with it  George Walker Bush is the worst President the United States of America has ever and (please God) will ever see. The man is an idiot of such magnitude that all who voted for him should be banned from ever voting again and those who continue to support him should be locked up in places where the walls are padded.

A difference in philosophy with a Brother does not ever justify personal attacks.  Ever.

Hey Spiderman!

Quite the contrary. I have NEVER drank a single beer. (I have partaken of some of those fruity orange margaritas on 99 cent night.) Never been drunk, doped, sniffed, snorted or bonged any drug or other vise. Never taken anything other than a prescribed antibiotic. Never smoked. (Except those cigars in the sixth grade, and then I really did not inhale!) So your preception is indeed flawed.  :D

I hope I never become dependant on any type of medication. Unfortunately, I have seen the results and know all too well what can happen even with prescribed medicines.
I am glad and proud of the fact that I have resisted alcohol consumption. A beer and a bowling ball my get some people through life but I have always kept my focus on motorized sports of boating, airplanes, motorcycles, go carts, jet skis, sports cars and custom trucks.

I do value your opinion and all those who post serious discussions in these threads. I was sorry to see the Obama thread jacked and removed it from my e-mail notification. Kojack's  post, although they mostly oppose my views, are thought out and contain a lot of worthwile talking points. You saw what happened to his topic "Financial Meltdown" post. This is what I hoped to get started again. If what you say is true concerning the opinions of the other members then I will oblige and remove myself from the site.

Here is wishing you the best.  :)

Don't do that!!  I'm serious.  Reasoned minds, regardless of opinion, are a much needed commodity.  Always enjoy your posts, though I may not agree with some of what you say.  No need to leave, so don't.

I second that.  I enjoy the Spider's comments as well.  Those differences are what makes this site so fun.

I am one of those hated consertvitives that finds McCain a leftist.  So I really have no dog in the fight.  But the discussions are great!

This post makes 7,690 for me. A good 7,000 of them were written in a sarcastic vein or tongue in cheek if you will. If you seriously think I am attacking BigR55 personally, you cannot possibly have read a single one of those 7,000 posts. My post was written on several levels and if you knew me at all, you'd instantly "get" at least two of them. And lastly, I don't recall that I have ever personally attacked anyone on this site, philisophical disagreements yes, but personal attacks no.

As to BigR55 personally, nobody's asking you to go anywhere, let alone vacate the site. Your post beginning this thread was waaaaaaaaaaay over the top and not to be taken seriously, so I responded in kind.

OK Spider, you win.

You should have on the botton of your avitar:

"Sarcasm, just another one of the sevices I offer".

Give us some fair warning, eh? :-\

Not trying to win anything but I have "awarded" several people the title of Jedi Master of Sarcasm which makes me - - - - - - ?

In all honestly, I truly thought BigR55's post was 100% tongue in cheek. Even the most ardent of GWB's supporters recognize his shortcomings. And the fact that the author of GWB's fictional "I Quit" speech was from Maine was just too much bait for this old bear. As such, I figured the entire thread was something that slipped out of the humor section unnoticed by the d00derator who moves nearly every thread started somewhere. :P

I can assure you that if I ever decide to be an a$$hole (as compared to the #2 chithead on the site)  and post a personal attack on somebody, it will be vicious enough that I get the boot and the post gets deleted in the time it takes Neal to hear about it. I'm not very subtle when angry.

Warren G Harding and Chester B Arthur come to mind as far worst than Jimmy C

I think your stooges would be Bush the younger, Harding and Arthur in that order with Jimmy C playing Shemp Howard or Joe Norita
