ECM calibration

I hate to sound stupid but! IF I add a stage 1 AC and recalibrate my 110" will it be necessary to do another recalbration if I were to change exhaust after the 1st recalbration. Thanks KB

 kb,  seek out a good tuner and lessoned to there advice. every tuner has there expertise,  be it racetuner, powercommander, or other. asks the people on this sit in your area and thay may be able to stear you to a good tuner.      axil

KB, engines are basically air pumps.  When you change anything it changes everything.  Basically what happens is that when you push more air through the engine it will lean out the fuel air ratio.  This causes the bike to run hot.  Heat is the enemy of air cooled engines and can cause serious damage very quickly.  Bikes with O2 sensors will correct for changes like this automatically, but only up to a certain point (typically 3K RPM). 

That said, however, changing the exhaust will cause a much more dramatic change to the fuel air ratio than modifying the air intake.  The muffler, catalytic converter, etc. on stock bikes restricts the amount of air that can move into the engine (Unless you have a super charger or a turbo). 

Others certainly know more about this subject than I do, but I would recommend applying a stock race tuner map after going to Stage 1 then do a full dyno tune after installing the exhaust.  This will give your tuner more to work with and you'll get more bang for your buck.  The stock maps are designed to keep the bike in safe limits while significantly improving performance.

i have a 2007 xl883c with a stage one screamin eagle air kit and drag pipes. I want to install my fuel pak from vance and hines, but i cant until i have the stock ecm calibration code. can anyone shed some light onthis subject for me thank you

You don't need the actual calibration number, just indicate "stock".  That box on the form is just for those bikes that had Stage 1, etc. calibrations downloaded to the ECM.  Assuming you haven't had anyone download anything to your ECM, "stock" is all you need.
