Heated Grips
« on: October 05, 2008, 09:10:17 PM »

Had the heads recall done last Friday.  Bike runs great, havent noticed anything differant on the road except at startup as it now sounds less like a kitchen garbage disposer with a spoon stuck in it.  It even has a slight new bike smell coming off the engine.

My heated grips were supposed to be replaced but although the dealer had a new set, apparently they arent the kind for a CVO internal wire setup.  So, now on order.  These grips seem to be generally failing for about half or more of us.  The MOCO must be taking a bath on this part.

Well, I'm just a step behind you.  My bike is currently at the dealer for the head replacement recall and of course the heated grip replacement.  Grips are on back order (imagine that!) until 10/17.  So given that winter is already here, they can just keep it up there until spring if need be.  Free's up a little more room in the shop.

My bike stayed in the shop all most all of August for the head recall.  When I picked it up I was told the heated grips were on back order and the auto locking device for the Tour Pak.  It's mid October and they are not in yet.  I could have driven to York, Pa., had them replace and back home in all this time.  Not Happy..... :sauer005:

The grips on the 06 SE ultra I had started fading after about a year they still heated when I sold the bike but a noticeable difference form when it was new. I have had them on the 09 a few mornings and so far so good but it has only been a month

I'm still waiting for my replacement grips, dealer tells me they are still on backorder. Anyone know what the release date is? I thought it was supposed to be 10/17

With so many failures you'd think they would fix this...Lots of posts of failing grips.  Mine seem to work only when they want to.  At 5k service they said they were working "within spec".

My grips failed and dealer replaced both. Now this set is not working again. I'll make an appointment with dealer for 3rd set. Rear cylinder oil leak, of course, they fixed with new "revised" slug and gasket. Now oil leak on bottom o ring of rear slug. Too low quality control for too much money spent on a motorcycle. Hands free module doesn't work either.  :soapbox:I waste too much time on warranty appointments and backordered parts and repairs. This is not fair.

Was the bluetooth module installed at time of bike purchase and attached to the bike's original warranty?  If so it'll be very interesting to see how they respond to a warranty requirement of a part that's already no longer in production.

Bike was brought in on 10/27/08, at this point I am waiting for word as to status of a new seat & grip replacement!

The delay has me wondering, if these items are only for comfort and do not detract from the safe operation of the bike, does the dealer need to keep the bike captive while waiting for the replacement parts to come in?

Granted, I am --><--- that close to an expiring warranty, so keeping it in their care might work in my favor, unless that does not matter once the condition is verified & parts order is placed.
