The worst thing that happened on the trip was the River Road was closed but that is just a reason to go back next year  :drink:

So why was the river road closed?  That's one of the best rides in that area. We usually do it in the AM over to Presidio for breakfast, and then ride it back to BB.
On last years ride we came upon a group of riders from Abeliene and one of them went wide on a turn and hit the guard rail. He was laying in the middle of the road in pretty bad shape. Made us ride a little slower that day. Was a really bad scene to see. The crests in that road are some of the steepest of any road I've been on. As you approach the crests, there is a second or so where you are blinded. Very scary if you approach them too fast. Probably what happened to the guy that crashed.

That would be horrible to roll up on did the guy make it?  River road was closed due to flooding I guess the Mexican Government controls the dams that feed the Rio and they have had so much rain in Mexico they needed to let some water out.  Well they let so much water out the Rio was flooded and they had to close River Road.  The locals told us that the river was down 24' from where it was and the river was still 150' across in places where it is usually 5-10' across on an average day.  Oh well like I said earlier it will be a good reason to go back next year!!! :drink: :drink:

Never did find out what happened to the guy. We asked around that nite in Study Butte and Terlingua, but never found out. On a visit several years ago to BB, several of the park roads were unpassable to do heavy spring rains.

Do you go to Luckenbach much?

We do a spring ( April ) and fall ( October ) Hill Country Run. In fact, I just returned from this years fall ride yesterday. Usually home base in Fredricksburg at the Frontier Inn. In years past, we would stop @ Luckenbach for a beer and something to eat, but on a nice weather spring day, it can get so crowded that it takes too much time away from riding. The dates for the spring ride are April 16 - 18. Come join us.
