Tag Bracket
« on: July 27, 2005, 12:55:42 PM »

What Chrome tag bracket have you guys/gals found that will work on the 05 SEEG? Since you can't use the 2 bottom holes, the choices seem limited.

You just use matching bolts on the lower two holes.

They just wind up being hole fillers!

Harley sells a thin, plain chrome bracket.  Can't use the thicker, fancier ones due to the clearance issue with the license light.  Just fill the bottom holes of the bracket with chrome plugs or reflectors.

I used a plate from Billet Boys. The hardware is hidden and has a really clean look. It was a b*tch to install but it looks good!

And I know about the pic.... [smiley=worthless.gif]..i'll post one tonight when I get home!

Actually, it appears that you can't put a bolt through the bottom holes of a tag trim at all. Filler or not. The bracket is in the way. Maybe I should have said chrome tag trim vs. bracket.

I tried the same thing.  Just cut the heads off the decorative bolts for the bottom wholes and put them on the surface of the chrome ring with marine epoxy.  It worked great; until sometime later when I noticed they'd both fallen off  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Why be limited to chrome?  Build a wood one that matches your style!  (Rough edged with lots of character.....)

I'm using the simple H-D bracket, and I filled the two bottom mounting holes by taking two red reflectors (the small round type with a stud that almost all dealers sell to secure license plates), cutting off the stud so that only 1/8" remained, and then securing them in the bracket holes with silicone sealant.  Works like a champ, no problem with them falling out, and adds a slight amount to the visibility from the rear.

I would have preferred a classier looking billet piece with hidden hardware, but the bracket and license light from H-D make it impossible to fit them.

Come on, man, I've grown attached to my SUBTOTBF.  I'm even thinking of painting a yellow smiley face on it.

Ladies and gentleman, I introduce to you the new SEEG Paul Bunyon edition Harley. That fits right in up there in Oregon Coolbreeze. Looks good!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] The only question now is where do you mount the axe?
