monster ovals vs. 1 3/4 fulsacs
« on: October 14, 2008, 09:38:56 PM »

Anybody have a real world side by side of these two exhausts.  I was wondering which is quieter and which is louder?
I have heard the sound bites of both but it is hard to tell on a computer.

all I can speak for is the monsters as I have these on the cvo,my flhx has true duals on them(rinehardts) and with them both running you almost don't hear the cvo,but they do have a nice sound( wife very happy with them, says it sounds like her monte ss,low and deep rumble)also HAVE PICS IF NEEDED

Heard the Monsters last week on a 110 Ultra, louder than Fullsac 1.75 recores that I have on my "09 RG Personally I am very pleased with the Fullsac. and I wouldn't trade them for Monsters. It's all subjective, I wanted to wake up mine , still be able to ride 700 Mile days and not have brain buzz after 30 min. mission accomplished.....Greg

Heard the Hookers on an 110 last weekend, and had another buddy with Monsters on his 96" Ultra, we got to running down the road, different rpm's and loads. Got to say my 1.75 recores were quieter and had a better overall sound IMO. We have others in the club trying different combos on the '09's, waiting for aftermarket systems to hit the market. I have another bike here that we are going with the 2" cores, (110 Ultra) and can't wait for another little "roadtest". We have some towns in the area that are "sound sensitive"|!
T-103 is correct about us "geezer-glide" riders wanting to do the long rides without the "buzz".

Good news...I ordered the fulsac 1 3/4 and based upon your feedback I will be happy.

I have the Monster Ovals (along with the V&H true duals) on my '06 SE Ultra 103".  I just ordered a set of 1 3/4 inch baffles from Fullsac yesterday.  I'm interested in seeing the difference.  My Monsters have a nice low rumble but still too loud on longer rides.  The low droan starts to wear on me.  I hope the 1 3/4 Fullsacs will be the answer to what I'm looking for and I've tried a bunch of different muffs.  When I took the baffles out of my stock muffs I could see that some of the insulating material around the screen was missing on the right muffler so I pulled the screens and insulation out of both muffs and am replacing the insulation with some new motorcycle muffler repacking material.  Hope to have the project completed sometime next week.

I went with the 1 3/4 fulsacs and could not be happier with the result.  Sound is more high performance and HD, without a big volume increase.  My cat is out and the stock HD muffler packing was perfect so I just left it in.  Some volume increase when you are hard into the throttle, but overall not much volume increase compared to aftermarket slip-ons.
I highly recommend to anyone wanting the performance increase without loud pipes.

Cat out
Arlen Ness big sucker
Fulsac 1 3/4 cores

Seat of the pants power feels much stronger, have not put my SERT on yet.
I am waiting on the version 2 CD.
Snap the throttle in first and the front wheel gets very light.
Man it is going to be a long painful winter this year.  I will be riding until they salt the roads.
