Custom Bike Insurance, Where Should I go?
« on: October 17, 2008, 09:40:36 PM »

I have all my bikes insured by GEICO right now. Not bad rates in the past, and been with them since '94 with the bikes, and since '80 with the cars. I insured my '08 Pro Street today. It's officially considered as a Custom, even though it was built by a licenced bike Mfr. If you manufacture under 10,000 bikes/year, they're all still considered Customs. They are recognized as Mfr's. by the insurance companies, but they're still classified as Custom bikes. ???

Well when I added the Pro Street today to my existing policy, it came to almost the same as ALL 3 OF MY OTHER BIKES COMBINED!!! And 2 of them are CVO's!!! WTF!!! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

I checked with Progressive, and they were about 20% less than GEICO. Checking with an agent that Vern knows, for State Farm on Monday.

What do any of you with Customs do? Who do ya'll insure them with? :confused5:

Thanks gang!!! :2vrolijk_21:

Best that I can/could tell any bike listed as a custom (including the Frontier) is expensive.
I use Foremost.
My agents name is,
Marc B Fisher
7373 N Scottsdale Rd.
Scottsdale Arizona. 85253

I don't have his direct # but try this one,
1-800-527-3907
I'm sure someone will get you to him.
Good luck!

Thanks guys. Have GEICO, checked Progressive. Will check Foremost and State Farm on Monday! :2vrolijk_21:

I have high liability coverage and comp, colllision and all the bells and whistles right now on my other bikes. Way too much for all that on the Pro Street at GEICO. Any others? ???

When I insured the wife's trike and then had an issue we found you need to be very very specific as to what they will be willing to do . We fought over things like how many different colors of paint they would pay for to repaint the body and they wanted to retouch the paint instead of a total repaint. We fought over each piece of chrome and what was safe to repair and what had to be replaced.Every thing needs to be in writing. Just my experience but thought it might help you.

HeHe!!! Thanks BD! Ain't to worried about that on my Pro Street though! For what that thing cost me to build, it ain't worth much more than a Super Glide anyway! ;)

http://www.motorcycle-insurance-tips.com/popular-motorcycle-insurance-companies.html

Someone on the list can get you an "agreed value" policy. I can't remember my Oldster insurance company.
You can save big bucks with limited mileage or "parade" duty custome...

I would also have to say check with Foremost.  They have a good motorcycle policy.  You can check with Allstate but the custom would be high with them too.  At least it was in MD.
