I was wondering what intervals are you guys servicing your SEEG.  I had notice that on the manual there's no 2500 mi. service.  What gives?  Let's Roll

Service intervals changed in 2004.  Myself, I still do engine oil and transmission lube every 2,500.

"Official" service intervals are 5000 miles.  I follow that schedule for all of the little inspections and stuff on the check list.  If you are running full synthetic oil, there should be no problem running your motor oil 5000 miles (I recommend Mobil-1).  Regular old oil should probably be changed at 2500 to 3000 miles, due to heat degradation.

By the way, I only change my trans lube (Redline Shockproof Heavy) once per season.  If you think about it, how often do you change the lube in your car or truck trans and rear axle?  There are no combustion byproducts contaminating the lube like in your motor oil, and this lube is designed to run in rear axles for 50,000 miles or more.

I run full synthetics in the engine and primary (Amsoil) and tranny (Redline).  Do the engine every 5000, the primary every 10,000 and the tranny every spring (without regard to how many miles it's gotten.  If that gear lube lives basically forever in the rear end behind a big block it's fine in my itty bitty bike transmission.

I don't disagree with what's being said about being able to go much longer on the transmission than 2,500 miles, but on the other hand, it's so dang easy to do while you have the drain pan handy, I just go ahead and do it for peace of mind.  Also, it's a good opportunity to clean the metal shavings off the drain plug (although they have been minimized significantly since switching to Mobile 1 from the lousy [for the transmission] Syn3).  Plus, it may be my imagination, but the transmission sure seems to shift with less effort for the next xxx miles after a change.

I change mine once a year, December 1st. I use the metal shavings to decorate my Christmas tree! [smiley=shocked2.gif]

[smiley=lolk.gif] You might want to consider switching to a more effective lube and buying tinsel instead. [smiley=santa2.gif]

Was introduced with the last bunch of new product releases.  They apparently finally figured out that clunking gears might really come from not using gear oil in a gear system  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .  Link to it is right here:

At my next oil change, I plan to install a primary chain tensioner (probably the new H-D part, originally planned to use the Hayden M-6) .  Once that has been done, my service intervals will be 5000 miles for the motor oil (Mobil 1) and filter (K&N - KN171C) , once per year for the primary and transmission.  I always change all of the fluids right before putting the scooter away for the winter, so everything is ready to roll when the snow finally melts.  Sure wish I could convince momma to move somewhere with a decent year-around climate.
