My 09 SE ULTRA  is burning my wife's right leg!  I traded my 06 SE ULTRA for a 09 and the heat on the right side of the 09 is terrible . Anybody have a fix??   The wobble issue of the 06 is gone and the hard tour pac on the 09 is much nicer as is the larger rear tire and several other improvements. I have owned many bikes over the years including several Harley's including sportsters, a springer, a heritage, 4 Road Kings, 3 Ultras and two SE ULTRAS.  The 2009 SE ULTRA is the best by far {EXCEPT FOR THE HEAT ISSUE}. Handling has improved, power is great, looks are very tasteful. Love the bike hate the heat!! Is there any fix for this that anyone is aware of???

Welcome to the site Jay.  I thought the heat issue was supposed to be addressed with the 09's..   

I would remove the RH muffler and remove the catyltic converter from the head pipe.  Do a search and you will find a post by Jim Kerr that will tell you how to remove the cat from your pipe.  Another person just replaced the headpipe from a 96" Ultra that does not have a Cat.. 

Probably a tuning device to richen her up wouldn't hurt either.

There are several things you can do, go to true duals, remap your ECU to richen the ATF mixture, or you might try a coating on your pipes. Below is a thread about the coatings.

I don't know if they will fit the 09 but, Harley had a heat shield available for the 08 SEEG's
and earlier if I remember correctly.

HeHe!!! The '09' SEUC's come stock with em!

Ya ain't getting rid of the heat without remapping the ECM! Stock setup or not, these bikes need to be remapped!

I am replacing the factory header with a D&D fact cat, quiet baffle.  I am going to send the head pipe out for thermal barrier coating before the install.  The heat is pretty bad there on the right.  I am also going to modify the ecm through super sert to get a little more fuel into it.

For some temporary relief, until you get the above noted fixes done, you can have her put her right foot up on the side crash bar. This has helped my S.O. "get away" from the heat problem and also gves her a position change that she seems to like.

I was wondering about the heat on the right side.... Left side looks much better, but that right side has to be HOT.
All the info posted above are good solutions, but changing the pipes and a SERT and tune are going to have the most effect.  Your biggest problem right now is that the after market (V&H, Rinehart and other after market exhaust mfg's) have not hit the market with new header pipes for the 09's yet. 

The after market companies should be hitting the market with their new offerings very soon.  Until then, you need to decide what you want (true duals or 2 into 1).  Once you decide on the design, you can decide how loud you want the bike to be.  Take your time (winter is coming on), research the different aftermarket companies and their products - get out and listen to bikes and ask questions.  Probably by the time you do your research, the aftermarket exhaust systems will be available.

According to numerous board members the 09 SEUC is really cool compared to the 08's?? My 08 is nice and cool but it took a SERT and different pipes to cool her down. Welcome to the board from Tucson AZ.
