Accessory plug under seat
« on: October 23, 2008, 08:13:52 PM »

For some reason..guess I am blind today...I can't find anything on the accessory plug or the switch panel in the 2004 H-D Electrical Diagnostic Manual p/n99497-04

Am I missing something....

trying to make a wire harness to feed the tourpack

all I can find is
1 o/r gets power from radio memory and connects to 4 on interconnect harness
2 r/y gets power from pos 3 on the brake relay and is to rear lighting
3 o gets power from dash panel switches pos 2 and goes to inter connect harness 7
4 bk ground

You talking about the accessory plug near the bottom of the battery, the single B+?

What are you trying to do?  The wiring for the tour pack is already on the bike.  They have it on the left side of the seat folded back,
look for a black connector laying in the wiring next to the fender.

I put an ultra tour pack on the bike and just plugged the harness in, all worked.  If I remember right, they had it tied back to shorten the harness.

I want to install a light and a cigarette lighter in the tour pack.

Don't care about running, turn, or brake lights. Just a light so I can see what is in the tour pack.

Try a small maglight flashlight.
No wires, no switches, you can get one color matched.
Next question!

Get yourself one of those battery operated closet lights with a pull cord at your local hardware emporium, stick it to the lid interior with some 3M molding tape, and you won't need to worry about connecting/disconnecting wires (or accidently running the battery down).  Much more light with a wider dispersion than Chip's mag lite idea. ::)

Jerry

btw, flhse had the right idea.  The connector for the tour pak is part of the main wire harness under the seat.  Buy the mating connector from a dealer and make your own quick disconnect hot lead to run whatever you want to install in the TP.  You don't need the entire harness if you aren't going to run exterior lights, just run one hot wire and one ground up into the TP.

No

my bike did not come with the pack. I did not want any outside lights on the pack so I did not order any. Now that I have ridden Kathy's 05 and it came with internal lights..I liked them. I also had problems with my cell phone going dead and thought it would be neat to install a cig lighter in the pack along with a light.

One thing that I want is for the cig lighter to be hot all the time...even when the bike is off. Every time I would cut the bike off....when the phone charger was pluged into the cig lighter in the fairing.....the hone would cut off and disconnect the bluetooth with the GPS and the Noland helmet.......So I would have to reconnect everything...PITA

I did see http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250285604865&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem= which is what Mungum was looking into with his 05. I believe that this adapter would cut off each time the bike was cut off. So I thought I would make my own harness and was hoping someone had accomplished this with stock components.

Well if you can't figure the wiring out I guess it's time for a new bike.  :cherry: :cherry: :cherry: :cherry:

I noticed through the pictures that some of you have put an ultra tour pack and rear speakers on your 2004 and 2005's se. Where is the plug or what kind of harness do you have to purchase to hook up rear speakers. I bought one of the leather cvo tour packs from a gentlemen off of a 2006. It has the speakers and switches complete. Is there a plug on my 2005 se to hook it up? thanks in advance.

No, there's no plug on your 05.  Not only that the stock radio in your 05 doesn't have an output for rear speakers.

So run it straight to the battery, put an in-line fuse in close to the battery and a quick disconnect just outside the tour pak.
