I know what you mean.
I clamped a short extension on mine and love it now ------guess I will have to come up with a more "permanent" solution

I just installed this one on my bike that was recommended by another member and it works great.

You can step on the bar while still seated and the bike goes up on the stand or do it from standing next to bike, and then when it's time to leave just drive off it.

My center stand is the same way, but you learn to use your toe to push stand down to ground and slide your foot further on lever and press down.

it is hard at first, but the more you do it the easier it is.

One note, I would adjust the stand so it just stabilizes the bike. I originally had it adjusted to lift the rear tire off ground and that was much harder to put up on stand and you can not drive off.

Which center stand did you install?

Harley-Davidson, Revco or Wheel Dock???

I'm just about to buy one and don't want to make the same mistake!

The H-D is the one this thread started about.  It is a great center stand except for this issue!

I bought the Rivco adjustable CS for my '08 SEUC to use as a "ride-off" stand, but because I've lowered the bike, the CS is too long, even when the adjustable feet are all the way in.

Agree--the passenger footboard made it very hard to get on the lever.

I called WheelDock to see if their CS-3 (for F/R lowered bikes) would work--they asked about type of lowering on my bike, then said "Get the CS-4." (Not listed on their web site).  It's supposed to arrive tomorrow; I'll post results.

BTW, Rivco didn't give me any hassle about returning their CS--they even called me to give me the Return Authorization.  Good customer service.

Bingo.  Handy Lift or J&S Jack works well, and there's no ugly odds and ends sticking out.

Ask MJZ about the cs on his nana.  Don't know which brand but the feet are adjustable.  After adjustment a set screw is supposed to hold them in place.  But vibrated loose on his bike allowing leg to unscrew and rub the rear tire resulting in a flat.  Correction - the leg contacted the valve stem damaging it and causing a flat.
