Motrin=ibuprofin, usually 200mg tablets.  I have taken 800mg as prescribed by a doc once...also, our dentist (and Anne) are believers in the pain relieving properties when Tylenol (Acetaminophen) and Motin (Ibuprophin) are combined in a specific dose of each.

not sure of the amounts of each...

Gotcha.

Tylenol makes me feel kinda weird for some reason so I don't really like taking it.

I to used the brace, I couldn't lift more than 10lb in a curl motion without great pain. The brace helped a lot, I wore it for about 4 months, now I don't have any problems. Ibuprofen works well on inflammation, not than headaches. I had a pinched nerve in my lower back while on a long bike trip, Ibuprofen we all that helped me. As a last resort, switch hands!  :P

Thanks. I'll be looking for a brace tonight. It's got to be really hurting for me to want to switch hands!

Good luck with the treatment and we are hoping you heal quickly.  Jamey got that a few years back and it took quite some considerable time to overcome.  I hope you don't have that problem.

I did the brace and heat retention sleeve along with a vibration dampener in the strings and it worked perfectly. It was the best $15. I ever spent.

Great. Thank you for sending the info. I did buy a brace yesterday. Not one like that, it's just the band without the sleeve.

I used a neoprene sleeve and the Velcro band, I didn't know they were offered in a combination until I saw this one today. The sleeve works well to keep heat on the tendon which keeps it from tightening up. (I guess) All I know is it worked great for me, I got to the point I was going to have to give up tennis when I was doing the Advil, ice, heat and laying off. Once I went to the sleeve, brace and dampener, I've been fine ever since.  :2vrolijk_21:
One other thing I did was take quite a lot off my serve until I didn't feel any more pain. I found 99% of the cause for me was due to my serve and overhead volleys. Once the pain was gone I went back to my normal bad technique.

The only time that I ever got it was when Andy, Jon and I did our cross country trip.  For whatever reason I got it the first day and I got it bad.

Nancy (Chip's better half) suggested an elbow brace that had magnets in it.  I thought it was hocus-pocus but I was feeling desperate.  It was either that or the Norco.  So I tried it.  By the end of the first day it was starting to lesson.  Three days later it was gone and haven't had it since.

I couldn't tell you if that elbow brace with magnets did the trick or that just happened to be conicidence.  But if I ever get it again, I'll be running to the drug store for one of those braces. :nixweiss:

I tried the shot, worked for a few weeks then pain returned.

Naproxen (Aleve) worked well for me, but the pain returned as soon as I stopped, and I don't like to take meds long term because they can interfere with my drinking problem!

Long term the only thing that fixed mine was exercise.  I'd thought exercise would make it worse, but it helps.  Doc says weak muscles transfer strain to tendons which rub on the bursa which becomes inflamed and causes the pain.  Twice a week at the gym for about 4 months and it's completely gone.

Not the easy fix, but if the other stuff fails...

Good luck!

That make sense as far as the heat that builds up in the sleeve. Maybe I'll get one of those too.
