Vance & Hines Big Radius
« on: October 28, 2008, 11:24:20 AM »

My bike is in the shop getting the V & H 2 into 2 Big Radius pipes and SERT installed. The dealer has a special of $600 for the SERT and dyno. What would be a reasonable number of hours to be charged for installing the pipes (not including dyno and SERT)? Dropped the bike off Sunday and they said it would be ready Monday afternoon. Now they tell me it will not be done until Wednesday.

Thanks

1.5 hours is usual for a change out on the pipes.  Ask for the dyno sheet with the date and time stamp.  I've heard of some "dyno" specials where they simply load a previous map into the SERT when tuning after a simple change such as pipes.  No inference intended with regard to your dealer, but it does happen.

I paid 160 bucks for the dealer to install the BR pipes and the SERT.  I think the total was 1200 bucks for everything.Pipes,SERT,Labor and Dyno. 91 hp and 113 tq if I remember correctly.

Okay, picked up the bike today. 86.13 hp, 110.14 torque. Tried to attach the sheet but it wouldn't take. Pipes sound awesome! I here popping when I slow down from high rpm. Is this normal?

Not really...  Popping is usually the result of a tune that is not exactly right....or some air leaking in somewhere  (intake or exhaust, could be either)...

Picked up the bike today after having it re-tuned. WOW!!.....Original dyno after the V&H Big Radius 2-2 and SERT were installed was 86.13 hp and 110.14 torque. Now 92.21 hp and 118.91 torque! No popping! It's like riding a different bike.  IMHO if anyone is going to have their bike tuned at Wildfire Harley, make sure Tony does the work. He really knows what he is doing. I'm very happy.

Hi I just had the Big Radius two into two installed along with the Screaming Eagle Big Breather and the Screaming Eagle Race Tuner installed and down loaded. The print out read 96.78 hp. at 122.48 max torque with the air/fuel 13.18 after Dy-no. It runs like a totally diffrent bike and sounds great. All done for just a little over  $1,700.00 but worth every penny. With this being done the engine does not run near as hot as it used too. Before any modifications were done. It was running way to lean from the factory.
