Might check with your DOT or local PD, here in Iowa the are illegal to mount vert.  Of course this is only used when you are leaving bike night or local pub late/early morning.  Just FYI, oh and it makes no difference if you have a custom that cam that way from the mfgr, we have had to change couple of our custom builds.  Guess it seems most cops cant read a lic plate vert, who would have knew.

Well I'm in SC, let me tell ya how itis....

They have eliminated inspections, emmissions, and just about anything that u can think of as far as motor vehicles go. As a matter of fact you don't even have to have insurance as long as you pay $500 a year to the state to be exempt (I'm still trying to figue the logic in that).

They just Tax the chit out of you everytime you registration.... So I'm not actually concerned about the laws here because if I were a betting man... I would say that one does not exist here......

As long as you pay your property taxes in SC your fine....

Oh an you must donate to the SC State Troopers Association and git a sticker on your ride... That always helps if you get pulled over for anything, and I loyaly contribute to them because it is a worthy cause....

sort of kidding with this, but everything I say is true...

Vertical plates also illegal in MA. (along with everything else but gay marriage).  I was in Daytona in 2004 and noticed a Mass. plate that was made vertical.  I looked again and Dave Perewitz was standing next to the bike.  He made the plate.  Looked authentic.  Damn.

SC Law does not make any mention of vertical tags (license plates).

I looked and I didn't see any thing about tag orientation in the law.....

Florida is a $1,000.00 ticket yep that's right $1,000.00 for the first offense and $2,500.00 for the second offense. We learned this through a traffic stop in Daytona a few weeks ago (headlight wasn't on!). The LEO gave us the heads up on the tag and sent us on our way after writing the headlight ticket. This is what we did for the rest of the event.

Hey Puzzled, that's what I was told......that it's a 'new law' that just went into effect 1st of Oct, but I was told the plate had to be mounted to the rear fender also.   :confused5:  spyder

The fender mounting is something worth looking into. The Sport bike and Chopper guys are not going to like that one.
