B B,

If installed and torqued properly - it will be fine.  It incredibly smooths out the ride...  So many of the reported issues on the site are a result of improper installations or unqualified folks turning the wrenches...  Or folks jumping to conclusions...  Take it all with a grain of salt....as they say...

I've noticed on my '08 that when the bike is fully warmed up, the belt tension is way too tight.  Apparently there is expansion of the engine-transmission at running temps causing the belt to over tighten and the bearings to fail.  Now I double the tension spec when cold and recheck it when hot.  The belt feels very loose when cold, but is in spec when hot.

A friend had his rear sprocket bearing fail recently on his '07 while going cross country.  He had the dealer install it and adjust it (the '07's didn't come with the ISD).  HD wouldn't warranty it because it was past the 90 day accessory period, and wasn't installed when the bike was new.
I also have more noise than I should on my '08 and think I better pull the wheel and have a look before I'm parked along side the road in the middle of the desert.
Well, it wasn't available when my '07 was new.  About to go out of factory warranty on Nov 12th.  Wonder if extended warranty would cover it if I ever had a problem?

Not if they realize it wasn't an OE part.

Cowboy,

No pics.  Picked it up today and so far so good.

I wonder if a part number was changed for the 2008's (other than adding the ISO drive)?

John,
I had the rear tire replaced about 800 miles ago due to an imbedded screw, and everything was fine then.  :nixweiss:  I don't have very many miles on Street Glide yet, so I don't expect that one to have any issues.

If you look in the other thread that's dealing with the Extended Service Contract, the rear sprocket is not covered under the ESP, much to my surprise.  :-\

If you're speaking of the contract I posted that was from '04 when I bought my bike so that might be the reason it's not showing up. :nixweiss:

Good point Gary.  I'll have to look at my ESP contract and see if it has changed from that one.
