That is a little f$%* up.....
So if you ask them for a working copy right off the bat do you think that will avoid the problem your having?

Still if you pay for the product, it should work...
I asked my local dealer and he told me that there is nothing wrong with software now... He said there was problems in the past, but those issues have been resolved..

Is he blowing smoke up my ass?

I run all the tuners on the same (2) laptops, Windows XP/SP3.  They all work fine with no glitches and yes I have multiple windows open when using the tuners.

I've done the same thin no issues. In fact, I have had SERT, MasterTune and DTT open all at once to copy tables over and never had and issue running Windows XP/SP3

these seem to be the exceptions, several people have had "fatal" errors when trying to use the SERT on XP and Vista, in fact when I went to the dealer here they told me that they have had several complaints about it.

I did have a crash running Mastertune in XP one time, but never any issues with SERT, MasterTune or DTT running in Vista. In fact my XP laptop is my preference machine when uploading to the ECM, my garage unit. I use Vista, my easy chair unit, to modify files and upload/download to my server. They all seem to run fine for me, with the exception of the one crash.  I did read in another forum that you should reboot, as a safety precaution, whenever you plan to transfer files with your ECM. Since my last crash I'm in the habit of doing this now :nixweiss:

well, I'm off to buy the updated software today(wish me luck) and if anyone could give me a little bit of step bystep instructions on how to properly install this it wouldd be greatly appreciated. I"m good with my hands, I just fear messing up my ecu since I have no experience with this.

I mihght add that on all my machines I have the RS-232 interface.  I bought them this way so I would not have the USB/RS-232 adapter problems.  I have no issues when using the RS-232 port.  I did have a laptop with USB only, it did work but would be more unstable.
