I don't believe anything except the voices in my head... :huepfenjump3:

I read a report once posted by a guy who had a neighbor that saw someone research his cousins high school report that mentioned a letter from The President of a neighborhood watch commitee that worked for The Hummingbird Post that heard from Ferris Bueller that Starbucks puts a chemical in their coffee that makes you crave it fortnightly...it is true! I READ it...or, something...

If you want good coffee without the BS just stop at a Dunkin Donuts shop.  One of the highest ranked coffee's out there, no made up names, no "barista's", no snobs and poser's, no tip jars or $5 prices.  Oh yeah, and Miker can get all those round things with the hole in the middle he wants.

while I'm not a starbucks supporter, I have been known to drink there on occasion, they CAN be had overseas. They do not have "starbucks" at camp liberty, freedom, etc; however they do brew starbucks coffee at what AAFES (military vendors) calls Main Street Express, and names of the like. Furthermore almost every army post I have been to sells starbucks brewed coffee. This seems more like the marine wanted coffee from starbucks and they could not/ would not ship it to the APO where he was. This seems more like someone who was disgruntled or isn't telling the whole story.

snopes has no credibility for me.
quoting them is like quoting the people in Howard Sterns video

Ok, read it hear then - Starbucks Refuses to Donate Coffee to U.S. Marines.

Like Jerry (grc) said most of this stuff that floats around in emails is just BS. If you want to believe it and spread then do so. If you want to see if it's real do some homework first.

And I still don't buy Starbucks coffee, because when I drink coffee I want coffee and not all the rest of that BS that they put in their coffee.

Don't know if it's true or not. Doesn't change my opinion of them or the overpriced crap they push as coffee.  :puke: Can you tell I don't like SB's? ;D

Been places they sent coffee to us...  Have seen tons of SB's in Iraq - and know for a fact that the SB in Tampa sent pounds to us in Qatar when I was there in 04 also.

Green Beans was the most popular coffee place in Iraq - we even had one in Fallujah.

this one isn't true - (not a SB fan) I don't drink Starbucks, but that is because I am way up the coffee snob scale...and it is actually crappy coffee if you have had better.

Take this, and snopes report with a grain of salt this story has been around for a few years....

G.I. Joe

BTW - I don't buy/drink Starbucks either way.

Thanx for posting the snopes link. Besides if the story is true or false, if snopes is accurate or not, and wether one likes Starbucks or not, I hate it when people use the Internet, and specifically sites like this, to promote any kind of rumours. Anyone who wishes to post stuff like this, should really at least make certain that the content is accurate!

Ride safely,
Louis

PS: Back in '03 I was at at least one Starbucks collecting not only coffee related, but any kind of stuff, to be sent to the troops at the expense of Starbucks.

I really don't care much about Starbucks and all the other yuppie havens; if they all ceased to exist it wouldn't affect my life one little bit.  As for the yuppies and wannabees who allow phenomenons like Starbucks to exist and prosper, I hope they are the first ones down the tubes in our lovely economy.  We really don't need to waste resources on finding new ways to spend too much on things like flavored water, or inventing a new language to describe the various "products".

However, this is another excellent example of the danger of blindly believing all those spurious comments that float around in cyberspace.  Some are like this one, created by a misinformed person in a fit of rage.  Others are created with the full knowledge that they are bogus, just to create hate and discontent.  In the old days, it took a lot more work to spread crap.  Get a bunch of flyer's printed up, stand on a street corner and pass them out, maybe mail them if you had enough cash for the postage, etc.  Now any POS with an axe to grind can write whatever libelous crap they want and post it anonymously on the web or send it via email to thousands who in turn forward it to thousands more.  When you see or receive such "information", before you react you need to ask yourself just how logical the whole thing sounds and try to verify before passing it on.  Just think how you would feel if someone who doesn't like you decided to start a little internet campaign about your business practices or better yet your personal sexual preferences (want some candy little girl?).

Jerry

Well this POS doesn't have an axe to grind.  This was emailed to me by an old friend who served alongside the soldier.   The difference with people like you is where I'll  make a positive stand you'll sit on a fence passing judgements.  If you don't believe in standing up for our Services I'd question who was the POS.
