04 Orange Black Worth 30K?
« on: August 15, 2005, 10:01:43 AM »

I'm looking at a  04 Orange Black with 1700 miles? Is it still worth 30K? The bike is mint but do you think its been sitting too long? The guy said he rode it every week or so just to keep it from getting dusty. I want the bike but dont want to make a mistake. Anything I should be looking for?

That's not a bad price. I've seen them go for more and less than that depending on milage ond add ons. Is the bike bone stock? any mods? pipes?

He's got Vance and Hines ovals on it and thats all. He didnt even do the stage one! I dont know what he was thinking. He has a fatboy too and he says he enjoys riding it better. Was going to do some touring and never was able to. I want a bagger and figured I"m going to spend a bunch for addons and still wont have the motor, so what the hell. Whats your opinion on the power of the bike?

If the bike was garage kept and he did ride it occasionally, I don't think you should have anything to worry about.  Price it not bad, and you would have a sharper looking paint scheme that what is coming out this year IMHO.

For Phoenix AZ I think that's a great price.

If it were me and I wanted the bike, I would make him a legit offer, say 27 or 28K, and see what he says. There are new ones available for msrp, ( 31,995 ) though you will have to wait. With good tuning, pipes and breather, 100/100 is achievable. PS   If you are going to have to borrow any money, it will be easier and a better interest rate on a new one.  JMHO  Good Luck [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Based on the West Coast market, he's about "on the money".  I've shipped several '04's to South CA at higher dollars a couple of months ago.  In late June, I turned down more than that for my scoot, but can't figure out what I'd replace it with for a rider.

I've recently turned down $33,500.   I mainly said no, because there is nothing else I like better.  If you like it it's a fair price, don't worry about the miles.  Buy it, ride it and smile. [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=1syellow1.gif] [smiley=7.gif]  Good Luck!

I agree with ya'll, but from the bartering side of thr fence, the B/B we saw at Waugh's on Saturday http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=mkt_sell;action=display;num=1123969315 was priced at current NADA price, $25,875. And they don't differ over color, like some of us might.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Obviously if this is the bike for you, it'll be hard to negotiate down much, but I would keep it in mind. Then again, I'd turn down more and have a lot more miles, and add ons.   [smiley=bigok.gif]

I'd wager most of us paid more and that is a fairly new bike, so you win either way. Not to mention the fact that you'd be getting the (truly) fastest color!  [smiley=banana.gif]  [smiley=cherry.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif] Har!  [smiley=pumpkin.gif]

Average retail money in the August Black Book is 28,845.  His price seems reasonable to me given it only has 1400 miles and no damage.  I love mine, and haven't seen anything else I would rather ride.
