Here I am in 2003 in Sadam thrown in Baghdad.   I would have never thought this possible in 2002....

I didn't post this to claim any reconition....

I just ask people to remember that when we when to Iraq the President had over 80% approval from the nation
and congress was even greater (and they had the identical intel).....

What the hell happened to us, when times get tough are nation decides to let CNN and MSNBC tell us what to think.

So ask everyone of you who read this.. PLEASE remember..
My country sent me and I did a dam good job.. Let us finish it the same way we started with pride!!

Maybe not, but you have to admit, that is one cool picture.

Can you see yourself showing this to your grandchildren some day and explaining that "Pappy" was one of those who deposed a dictator and freed a nation ?

 :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:
Got the following from a dealer I had contact with in the past. Not many show this patriotism today.

I am an American,
fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life.
I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

I will never surrender of my own free will.
If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command
while they still have the means to resist.

If I am captured,
I will continue to resist by all means available.
I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape.
I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners.
I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.

When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.

I will never forget that I am an American,
fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions,
and dedicated to the principles which made my country free.
I WILL TRUST IN MY GOD AND IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

 To everyone who has recited these articles,
to everyone in harm's way,
to everyone who has stood or is standing the watch. . .

THANK YOU, VETERANS.

It is a cool picture, there was alot of blood shed to get there.
I was there providing anesthesia to the greatest men and women on the face of the earth...

I once did the anesthetic to amputate a young soldier's leg and I told him he was going to Germany.
I don't think I've ever seen frustration on a person's face like this guy..
He wanted me to send him back to his unit so he could get back in the fight...
He told me that he would be OK in the turret on the 50.

I tell people that story because so that people understand the resolve of our greatest American's that are only 19 or 20 years old....
It was amazing to me. It is not because they are young or stupid....
It because the really believe in something larger than themselves.

And that my friends is what Veterans Day is all about, honoring these young people that have given their arms, legs, lives and hearts to us....

JMS cool pic.  Thanks goes out to all verterans.

The NY Times just moved to the top of my list of Most worthless POS rags.

Nothing in the paper today about Veterans day...That however is to be expected of them

However Front Page articale about current ongoing small secret opps againts Al-Quaida :soapbox:.  This according to several reports is endangering the young men and women in these operations.  This action by them is traitorous.

Thank You All Veterans!!!, I didn't serve but  I have bleen blessed with the  opportunity to give back a little by being selected to be a Road Guard on the Southern Route for Run For The Wall.http://www.rftw.org/index.asp?lg=1&w=pages&r=-1&pid=0 We ride for those who can't

Mission Statement: To promote healing among ALL veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (POW/MIA), to honor the memory of those Killed in Action (KIA) from all wars, and to support our military personnel all over the world.

Philosophy: We strive to maintain a safe, supportive and private atmosphere in which all participants can reflect and heal on their journey to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. in the hope that they can return home to a new beginning.

Goals:

   1. To guide the participants across America.
   2. To educate future generations as to the importance of accountability in wartime actions emphasizing that no one should be left behind.
   3. To participate in Rolling Thunder in support of their demand for government accountability for POW/MIA's.

  Come join us on the Run for a day or all the way...Thanks Greg

Back in the 70's when I was active duty and pulling pilots and black boxes out of, let's say sticky situations, I/we never thought about what we were doing as far as patriotism goes. Our thoughts were "get in, get out, go home, drink. The pride in service came after. But, again it was the 70's and not much civilian pride back then.
To all, Welcome home. To those still active, keep your head down.

Only four survivors of the Great War now, three of whom made it to the Remembrance Day Parade at the Cenotaph in London.

Bill Stone 108 years old
Harry Patch 110 years old (Fought in the Battle of Passiondale)
Harry Allingham 112 years old

For the Fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables at home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.
