Well, got my memory stick and phone and heading out to the Verizon store in a few. I'll let ya know. New service might still be Verizon, but might be AT&T. If it's AT&T, might be looking at an I-Phone. Anyone got one? Are they worthwhile or just hype?

In a word, yes.  Caveat.....it really depends upon how much you need mobile internet, networking and email.  I do and it has been a treat for me when traveling.  Used to carry my laptop everywhere and have since quit taking it all.  What I like the best is the ease of backing up anything on the phone to one or more computers or stand alone hd's.  IMHO, the time savings and security is well worth the cash.

Usually yes (though surprisingly not always).  Software to do it on several free downloads though.  If your and Binx's phone are Bluetooth capable you could possibly send the entire address book to hers via Bluetooth then send it back to the new phone when you get it.  Lots of potential options.  Though I've got $5 bet that you'll one-finger-key every entry in to the new phone when you get it :P:drink:

Great idea on Binx's phone thing Don! We're both Verizon and Bluetooth. Hmmm.... giving that a try when she gets home, before heading to the phone store! :2vrolijk_21:

HeHe!!! You're prolly right about that! Can I get it on it too! ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Brian. I'm not a "entertainment feature" gadget guy, but the other computer features it has seemed less cumbersome than a regular computer phone. Damn, on my phone now, I have to type thru a tel. number touchpad-no keyboard! Anything's an improvement over that! :nixweiss:

Just had one more idea Howie.  If you duct tape the old phone to your head and think REAL HARD you can suck the data out of it right in to your brain.  Then when get the new one duct tape it down and do a brain fart the other way to push the data in to the new phone ??? !

When you try this be sure Binx is in the room with a camera though.  Because:

Mi amigo Louis...I see thay you more experienced person than me in the iPhone. I have a question: My iPhone has aroun 300 contacts. I have been afraid to lost them since I have had problems with the iPhone lately. In one of my computers the Microsoft Outlook is empty so here is the question: If I syncro all the contacts from the iPhone goes to the Outlook (again the outlook is empty) or do I lost them?

Thanks buddy

Jorge

That is fairly simple: Connect the iPhone to the computer, which must have iTunes installed. iTunes should start and recognize the iPhone. In iTunes click on the Icon showing a tiny iPhone in the left pane. The iPhone Overview opens. Click on Info in the row of tabs near the top. There are different categories, one is for Contacts. Select the checkbox and select Outlook from the drop down list. Select All Contacts. Then click on Synchronize in the low right corner. Synchronizing combines information of both devices, hence at the end the same list is in Outlook and on the iPhone.
Hope that helps!

Ride safely,
Louis

Don's idea of transmitting it to Binx's phone worked.....to a degree. I set both phones to Bluetooth and figured out how to send the contacts. But no matter what I did to "mark all" for sending, it always sent only the first entry. My phone tried sending 365 entries, but her phone only received the first one no matter what I tried. So I had to transfer the contacts to her phone 1 at a time! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

Hopefully getting the new one today. If so, maybe they'll transfer my contacts before I turn the phone back in. But at least I have all my contacs on Binx's phone now. It's a start! Thanks for the help! :2vrolijk_21:

Crap! Mighta done all this for nothing! Just picked up my new I-Phone and they AT&T loading my contacts to a SIMM card. NG. Can't transfer from Verizon. I-Phone doesn't bluetooth data at all, so I couldn't send them from phone-to-phone like I did w/Binx's. Only other shot, which I'll try next, is to get Verizon to transfer my contact list onto a memory stick, then transfer that to Outlook in my PC, then download it from my PC thru I-Tunes back to the I-Phone! Isn't freakin technology wonderful!!! Hate all this proprietary chit! Why can't everything have common protocol! Buncha BS just to cost the consumer more and lock you in to a mfr!!! I'll get it done though! ;)

BTW, this means I have my new # now. PM me. I can respond it back to ya. :2vrolijk_21:

Now, how about some I-Phone lessons!!!!! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss: ;D

What happens? Check this out!

Holy crap! Nobody mentioned that I-phone/Apple was Big Brother chit!!! :o

I plugged it in and got nothing. I went to Apple's site to download I-Tunes software, which you need. To get it you need an I-Tune Account. OK. Well to get that, they want a credit card in advance, even though you haven't bought anything! Just to get the software you need to use a 200 freakin dollar telephone! No documentation! Again, go to their site! Didn't bother. Prolly have to pay to get a manual on how the damn thing works! F them! I don't give my credit card to anyone until I'm ready to BUY something with it! Don't know WTH they think they are, but this Big Brother chit doesn't go over very well with me! They can keep their yuppie puke phone! >:(

Hey Apple,  :sauer021:

Whew! ;)

My 28 year old son loves his iPhone and does some pretty neat stuff w/ it. I just want a freakin phone. Tried that high tech, icon driven stuff from Verizon and turned it in. Stress was much too great w/ all of the sign ups, flip screens, must have downloads, etc. I'm very happy w/ my basic flip camera phone.

Screw the rest of it.
