Tach Light?
« on: November 16, 2008, 11:35:47 AM »

I was riding last night and noticed that the needle on the tach was not illuminated like on the speedo. Is it supposed to be? If it is, can I fix just a bulb, or do I need to get the whole thing?
It seems that I read on here that someone wanted to change the color of lights on the tach and speedo and that it cannot be done because the lights are LED's on a circuit card? Before I tear into this I wanted to see if anyone knew about it.

Thanks,

I don't think the tachometer needle is lit.  Mine sure isn't.

It has been a while since i remove my stock tacho & replaced it with an 07 SERK speedo/tacho combo unit. But I am certain it had a light in it or how the hell are you supposed to see it at night. My current tacho definately is lit so I can only assume both of you have a small problem.

The Tach needle isnt lit but there is a mod that you can get from www.heavycycles.com for $49.95 that will light it, log on the site and go to Gauge Lighting.

Clarky,

Welcome to the site! I see you have been a member for a while but must have been just looking. Your first post here & it has some very useful info & I am sure some people here will be adding that light to the tacho.  :tekst-toppie:

Thanks Clarky!

Great find, it looks like this company is not far from me in Norcal. I read the reviews on it and it sounds pretty simple.

Thanks Again,

Mike

FWIW, I did this mod on my 04 SED tach and it came out great. Still not quite as bright and defined as the Speedo, but light years better than the stock set up. I had some pics around somewhere, but can't locate them now. Definitely worth the investment!

It's definitely an HD oversight/problem because I noticed last night my tach needle is not illuminated also.
