Recommended tuner in west tennessee area
« on: November 18, 2008, 08:12:41 PM »

I have a 2008 FXSTSSE2 with 5000 miles and so far, no problems.  I was hoping someone might know of a good tuner in my area that you would recommend.  I think I will be going with vance & hines big radius pipes and SERT or PCIII.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Memphis to Nashville or St Louis is within my area.  Thanks

I'm not sure what he's doing for dyno tuning, but talk to Brian Rose at Bumpus Collierville.  Brian did dyno tuning at Bumpus Memphis, but I don't think they are set up with a dyno at the Collierville location and he's out at the Collierville store now.

I bought my CVO springer at Bumpus in Jackson, TN but have not heard any comments good or bad as to their tuning capabilities.  I was hoping to find a tuner that stands out of the crowd and has many happy customers singing their praises.  I've considered Bumpus but again am looking for that shining star.  Thanks for the contact name though.

John's website here:  Rolling Thunder Dyno

If you decide to use John let me know when you're coming to town.  I'm only a few minutes from his place.

You might send a PM to site member 103Thunder.  I don't remember the details but do remember there was some story about his tuning efforts at Bumpus.

If you decide to make the trip to Joplin to visit John Golden he really is one of the best.  Very few artists with a dyno out there.  John happens to be one of them.

While Golden is one of the the best, if not THE BEST, in the world, there are other great tuners closer to you.  Rod Cochran http://rodsperformance.com is quite the meticulous tuner.  A Retired Army Warrant Officer, Rod is very technically proficient.  The Professor, Mr. Bob Wood is not much farther south in Cropwell, AL.  Gimmee a shout if you decide to head over to our neck of the woods and I'll meet ya at either place.

:2vrolijk_21:  Hey HML, just caught your blog from yesterday and see you are from Huntsville.  I can echo the comments about Rod's Performance.  Rod did a lot of work on my 04 FLHTCUI and I can agree he is very meticulous when tuning a bike.  Any chance you will make the Toys For Tots run that Rocket Harley is having this Saturday?  I intend to be there and would like to get together with you and chat a bit.  :huepfenjump3:

Not sure if I can make that or not, Ken.  I'm headed down to Rod's to bring him some more stuff for my motorcycle.  What time does it start/end?
Is that you I see on occasion on Bradford Dr. and Research Park Blvd. on the Duracell with the bright flashing brake lights?

:drink: :drink:  Henry:  You have the right bike and person.  I have the strobe flashing brake lights on the rear of my copper top.  Honk the next time you see me and I'll pull off and we can press the flesh.  I work for L-3 Communications on Discovery Drive.  :2vrolijk_21:

I'm sure this has been discussed before but has anyone had warranty / service issues from H-D after having tuning maintenance performed  by facilities other than H-D dealers?  If so, what were the problems or where might I read about them?
