BUB 7 Slipon's
« on: November 20, 2008, 01:37:37 PM »

Anyone installed the new BUB 7 slipon's yet.  Was curious how they compared against the Rinehart slipon's.  Looks are great, and I especially like the slash cut ends that you can turn down or up.  Just don't know what they sound like.

I have them on my 2009 103" FLHX....love the sound. Very deep and rumbley with stock headpipes.

idle sounds very good...interstate cruising is really nice over my other pipes like V&H pro-pipe and the V&H big shots...much quieter on the hiway...till you hit it, then it gets loud...but a low frequency loud, not a raspy tiney loud...

Other than installing the mufflers,  Do you have to upgrade the air filter or do anything with the ECM.  I was just planning on putting the slipons on,  Not sure if I need to do anything else.  I am very satisified with the way the bike runs already,  just wanting more sound.  These quiet stock muff's have got to go.  I have contacted serveral HD shops and some say you have to upgrade the air filter,  some say you have to do a stage 1, and other say you don't have to do anything.  I know they just want to sell you all they can,  and I am not sure what to do now.  Thanks for your input on the BUB 7's .  Just what I wanted to here.

Jimmy,

There may be other opinions but you don't have to do anything else other than the slip ons if you simply want more sound.  You don't say what bike or year you have but the closed loop system HD uses now will compensate for the small decrease in back pressure you may get.  The other suggested changes may get you a bit more power if you remove any  :verkleidung009:  cat   :dier_21:  in the pipe.  If you have an 09 touring bike, it's in the head pipe.  08 110's had them in the mufflers.

Installed the BUB 7 Slipon Mufflers last night.  Man they sound great.  Deep rumble tone.  Haven't had a chance yet to get out on the road and pull the bridle off,  but they will come later on today hopefully.  The idle sound of the BUB 7's are incredible.  Couldn't ask for a better sound.  As for installation and fittment,  no problem.  Had them on in about 30 minutes.  Muffler fittment is no problem,  Very satisfied.  Will post some pic's later on tonight.

Considering the Bub 7 slipon's as well. I talked to HD and they said it has the same sound as a Rineharts with a "quite baffle." Wondering what your opinion was? Thanks

Do they have heat-shields at the area below the saddlebags ?
What was the price for them ?

Heat sheilds are only on head pipes and the cross over that comes up from the frame on the left side. The remainder are the mufflers, which are double lined.

On right side of bike, full heat sheilds to the muffler. As the cross over goes under the frame and exits under the passenger floorboard, it has a small heat sheild attached, then the muffler.

So there are actually 2 sheilds total. Right side and left side..
