Computer Help!!!!!!!
« on: November 20, 2008, 03:04:07 PM »

My Son is finally set to Graduate from Cal Poly Pomona in Computer Engineering.

His senior class project was to program the Blackberry Cell phone to send faxes from the phone.

His Senior Class grade will be based upon how many hits their web site receives.

Please review their website.

He needs your help.

Thanks

Sounds like they need to write a robot to go to the link automatically or download one from one of the many sites out there that have stuff like that. I'd love to help but I'm busy going to this link all day long. I guess I could go once. Graduating Cal Poly he should be paying us ignorant bikers 25 bucks a pop to go to the link. Or he could take out a Ignorant Biker Loan from me, great rates, it's kinda like a School loan, it just has higher interest rates, and the penalties for late payment are a little excessive. Other than that he should qualify as long as he pays the preparation fee. It's not much just an 09 SEUC all chromed out with polished 12 point bolts on the bike in Cobalt Blue, SS cables, etc.. I will visit once though for no charge.

I don't know about that site. It has the feel of a PRC web site and why is their project not using the Cal Poly Network? I don't have a Black Berry, the wife does but I would tell her if she saw this not to download because of my thoughts above. It could be spyware or any number of other things. If it were on a .edu site I would think otherwise. Not unless you are the Guiang Corporation and then it just seems fishy because if he is graduating Cal Poly as a Computer Engineer and this is a class project, he could have whipped up a web site to advertise the project. That is the other thing also there is nothing there saying it's class project. It just smells of  corporate America.

to be honest..... I don't think they are ready for product downloads......

I believe this products has been in the works for 3-4 years..... the prior senior's pass it along to their predecessors.....

the kids are just looking for review.......no purchasing is necessary...........

I don't think a price is listed.............

here's my son's email today sent out..........

Hey,

I need to get people to visit my senior project website.  The more people I get to do this the better grade I will get in my class.  Each "hit" the website gets will be counted and added at the end of the quarter.  Unfortunately the quarter ends in two weeks.  Our marketing team has only been able to get 277 visits in eight weeks.  Please help me out by visiting my website.  If you know of anyone who might be interesting in a faxing application for a Blackberry cell phone please forward this email to them.  Thanks for your help,

Richie

Forgive us for being wary. It's our nature, we ride CVO's, comes with the territory.

If anyone is wondering it was not the name that I was talking about. It is the general feel of the site. A project passed down from class to class? Why offering jobs and all the other stuff? I guess that's to make the site look pretty.
Look at the power outage Florida suffered awhile back. Our government was hiding the real cause from us for days and days. they finally tell us it was the PRC probing our networks for vulnerabilities, then they also say that the power outage that hit the northeast and parts of Canada might have been the cause of that outage.
This Internet that ex-vice president gore invented is a danger to our security, as well as our Southern border. It's like when I rode to the Grand Canyon from here. Out there every night there was something on the news about the border. In Florida though you rarely hear anything about the border and I suspect it is the same in other parts of the country. This country needs help with it's security and I don't think we will be getting any with this administration or the next. As long as you are in bed with the problem it will never go away.
I am all for helping our students because they are our future, but it would be nice if when we are asked to do something for them it would look like it is for them.
Sorry, if anyone's feelings are hurt, but the truth hurts sometimes!
Also remember their are Americans and their are U.S. Citizens.
