Well, I removed that bracket and what a pain it was to get it off. Anyway, the Zipper Maxflo is now installed.
Critique of the part: As was stated elsewhere, the cover does not make contact with the filter except at the top and bottom, which makes it very easy for the cover to turn. It seems somewhat stabile after tightening it real tight. My concern is that because the filter is deeper than stock, and the cover now sticks out further, your leg is resting on the back of the cover and makes the movement of the cover almost inevitable. Something needs to be put between the cover and the filter at the front and rear to take up the gap, but I just haven't figured out what yet. Whoever stated on here that they send an adapter with the filter to accommodate this, I sure received no such thing.
Next, because the filter sticks out further, you are going to have some real trouble getting your foot on the right floorboard at all. Luckily, I have the floorboard extensions that move the floorboards outward by 1" on each side. Without having these, I would have no choice but to change to a different filter. If you are going to use this filter, I think you will have no choice but to get the floorboard extensions.
I have a concern, whether founded or not, but on the stock setup and with Harley's stage I, there are 2 hoses that are eliminated by using this kit. The bolts that had those hoses attached are solid head bolts in this kit. Maybe someone could shed some light as to whether this is a problem. I thought those hoses did something like a crankcase breather sort of function and expended excess oil into the filter area. Is this a problem?
Another item with the install that may be a slight help. It appears that the stock SE air cleaner cover is wider at one end than the other. I mounted the narrower end toward the back in hopes that it may give a slight bit of help for legroom. I don't know if this was the right thing to do or not. It may not have given any more room, if it's the back of the cover that is cut at an angle. If that's the case, then I would think that I would have wanted to put that end to the front, to allow for more unobstructed filter opening. Anyone know which way it should have gone on there?
Put it this way, if I had to do it again, I wouldn't go with the thicker filter. I'm sorry I went this route, but I don't want to have to wait another week or more trying to exchange this with them. I'm trying to get my bike back together, get it mapped, and on the road ASAP.
