Tour pack spoiler ligth bar loose
« on: August 22, 2005, 10:38:20 PM »

Just a warning.  This morning when I got to work went to put my helmet in the tour pack, found the light bar from the tour pack spoiler hanging by the wires.  It seems that just after 3500 miles the 2 small mounting bolts vibrated loose causing the light to come off and dangle there and put a nice scuff mark on the tour pack.  Luckily it came off after a good hand job, oh yeah! and then I got the wax and went to work on the tour pack. So anyways  next time your prowling aroud the bike looking for something to do check those 2 bolts.  Let's Roll

I had installed one on my '02 Electra Glide.  Sold that bike to a friend to get the SEEG.  Last weekend he told me the same thing happened to his spoiler light only he somehow lost the whole red plastic lens that the idividual LED's go inside of.  His vacated the premises without doing any damage to the bike but now he has to replace the entire LED assembly wiring harness and all with a service kit that is made up of these pieces.

Good advice to check things out in this area, LR!

I don't remember anyplace to do that (lock nuts).  Bolts go through the saddlebag and tour pak lids in to the spoiler bodies themselves and screws (wood screws) go through the lenses/lights to hold them to the fiberglass spoiler bodies.  So if the lense/light is loose the only thing to do is just retighten the screw and hope the fiberglass hasn't gotten warbled out.

For mine I found a couple of bolts that would work (good enough for now)and put some lock tight on them until I can get the right ones in there.  There's no way to get nuts in there.  The bolts go through the spoiler and screw into the light assembly.  Anyways keep and eye out.  Let's Roll
