My hat's off to anyone starting a business in this climate, but given the built in customer base, if these folks follow the basics we discuss in what we expect from a dealer they should have a better than even chance of success. I wish them well and hope someday to visit as I've had a European tour in my mind for many years.

We've talked about one in 2010 before Jorge.

It's still in the back of my mind.

I was guessing out loud if German was the native language of Switzerland.  My family is from Alsace-Lorraine, over 100 years ago.

jester, Alsace-Lorraine, thats in France then isnt it?

Actually switzerland have 4 official languages, depending on which part u come from, swiss/german which most germans wouldnt understand and also many swiss/german dialects in different areas (like in england) which makes it even difficult for the swiss germans to understand themselves. Which is why the swiss/german speaking kids learn to read and write in German at school. They used to learn French as a second language but now they learn English at school.
Swiss/German north & east,
French, west
Italian south,
and Romansch up in the alps

Overall if you know a little French it will serve you well everywere except in the north. When you go get a rail pass and a hotel pass and the country is yours. Terry and I had a blast there and saw the whole country in about seven days. If you have time constraints, the southern part (Italian) is the friendliest and most beautiful (my opinion). We had two missions to accomplish while we were there. She wanted to see as many castles as we could find and I wanted to visit as many Harley dealers as we could find, and between those two we had a blast.      Take t-shirts from your local dealer to exchange with Swiss dealers to make a friend for life and make the best use of the time you have in each area.  Doc
