I have had my HD 6 Speed since April and do not have any noise in 6th Gear or any of the other gears.

Am now running Red Line Heavy Duty Shockproof for about a week.  Changed over to Red Line out of habit. Red Line MTL  in the Primary and MOBIL, Amsoil or Red Line Oil, whatever Syntheitc I have handy in the crankcase.

That's good to know Geezer.  The noise thing used ot be pretty common thing to hear of when those units were first released.  Perhaps a gear cut has been changed or something else done to make it better.  Glad yours is better  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

It is interesting to hear that "some" of the 6 speeds are quite and others are noisy.  My buddies tranny was installed in June of this year.  I wonder if the actual installation has anything to do with the gear noise.  Certainly, gear lash issues can create noise.  It is strange that it is only in 6th gear.

I had an old Ford Ranger pickup with a manual tranny that made serious whinning noises in 4th.  In fact, Ford warned against pulling heavy loads in 4th (which I completely ignored).  Sold the truck before I had to buy a new tranny.

Tonys,
No doubt I'll be going with it, some point this winter (hopefully it will be another ridable one) so I can get in some break-in miles with it before spring hits. Any issues with it then I can have addressed. Thanks for your input !! [smiley=biggthumpup.gif]

TB,
Seams to me from what I'm hearing, Some bikes have noise others dont, And not knowing how hard the bikes are hammered on (shifting wise), the HD gearset kit does require some case modifacation to fit, so it maybe a dealer didnt do the best job on fitment  [smiley=oops.gif]

jimp,

You have any concerns regarding your HD warranty?
I would assume that they will say any future problems with your bike will be aimed at your tranny swap.

I really appreciate that info, I'll go over that with my mech. at HD and see if that will work out for me as well.

How does the baker deal with the hydraulic clutch on the SEEG?  Any install issue with the exhaust clamps etc?  How much did you pay for the thing and what do you expect the install to be?  What gear ratios did you pick?  I got a price of about 3k delivered for the DD6.  I am curious if the gear set will fit in the stock Tranny box as I can get that for around 1800?  JP  alot of questions some may be silly but needed to know?

Try this link to Baker - they have some info on the site, and a contact form where you can ask specific questions.   http://www.bakerdrivetrain.com

I have the Baker 6 speed as well not in my CVO it was in my ultra and the only complaint I have is with the taller 1st and 2nd gear is that if your on the throttle and switch into third and your not in the throttle its just like you downshifted.

The same held true when I had originally bought the tranny when I had only the tall first gear and the 6th gear that was 1:1.
