You asking about the extended bags on the new SERGs?  If so no one else but a new SERG owner is going to have a comparison.  I don't even know how they're suspended at the bottom.  Different lower support bracket?

The dzus fastners likely need adjusting and alignment.  Take a close look at the alignment of the male (on the bag side) and female (the bike side)  pieces of the connector and adjust them until they operate smoothly - by adjusting the female side - loosen the bolt holding the female side adjust it and retighten....

That is if the 09 bags are mounted similarly to the earlier model bags...

If it's just the alignment with the fasteners they're often screwed up.  Loosen the bolts to the plates.  Put in the fasteners.  Close the lids.  Wiggle everything a bit to make sure it's lined up.  Retighten the plates.  Should make a difference in your favor.

Not sure if your just talking SERG's or not but with my 09SEUC the plug for the locks is very short.
So the combination of short wires and fat fingers make removing my bags a little bit of a hassel.
And YES, when the spoiler were added I made sure there was plenty of cable.

But since we are in a recession, if that all I got to bitch about, , , life is great!

That might suck.  Metal bracketry is always adjustable of course.  It's just painful and worrying to have to take a hammer to your bike to get things where they need to be sometimes :o .

I agree with you 100%.  First: yes, is the 09' SERG.  Even the new saddlebag guards (wich I installed last weekend) have the same problem.  It's all one unit and the bags line up to high, specially the rear clip.  I thought about trying to trim down the rubber boot that's underneath the bag and between the support rail.  Let's Roll

And IF you adjust the Zeus fasteners and IF you have the front saddlebag guards pay special attention to the nut bolt on the bottom rail. Adjust the fasteners the wrong way and the bag will hit the nut/bolt and chew up the paint.

AND - don't ask me how I know this

Porthole,

Enlighten us on how you know this to be the case  ::)   :huepfenlol2:   Pictures would be even more helpful to understand the possible dilemma you are speaking about.

hey Harry - there on here somewhere, I posted some pics sometime ago when I screwed up the bag.

I'll see if I can find them, I'm not home now, so I can't look in my home computer.

Not a criticism, but the proper spelling for the fastener is dzus, named after William Dzus who invented the quarter-turn fastener in 1932. Here's their website:

Don't trim the rubber boot. Try a little silicone lube on it to let it slide into place easier
