I was a lil upset at the way something went down here the past couple of days. One guy decided to sell something, then changed his mind. Before that occurred, someone else said he'd buy the item. That however went unanswered until the item was withdrawn and no longer for sale.
Was this a deal?
UNEQUIVICALLY NO!!!
A deal is made when two parties BOTH COME TO TERMS AND AGREE TO THOSE TERMS. When one party offers something, then another party responds, but the seller never finalizes arrangements, funds, etc, THERE IS STILL NO DEAL YET. Both sides must have a mutual agreement of price, delivery, shipping, and anything that constitutes all aspects of the agreement. Once both parties mutually agree to ALL terms of the sale, and agree they've finalized a deal, you can then consider that the deal is finalized. But someone offering something, and someone else saying they'll take it, doesn't meet all the requirements for a completed deal. So unless you've been told by a seller that he's agreed to your offer, you have no deal yet.
People own title to their belongings and can do what they want with their property. They can keep it, throw it out, or decide to sell it. Nobody's business but their own. If they decide to sell, then change their mind, no problem at all. If someone offers to buy it, but the seller changes his mind for any reason, still no problem at all. A deal was never finalized. If the seller makes a DEAL with someone to sell, THEN changes his mind, he'd still be obligated to sell. If he doesn't, he'd be defaulting on the deal. What that means to us here is that guy isn't a stand up person, and everyone here would know that. But if someone here changes their mind before a deal's finalized, that seller can still do what they want with their property. Any hard feelings by a prospective buyer are totally unfounded and are simply selfish sour grapes IMO!
So please treat each other with a lil more respect when it comes to this. A deal is a deal only after it's a deal. Anything outside of that is just sour grapes as I said!
Hoist!
