MYCVO,

Are you sure there is a larger intake available that will mount to our 43 MM Fuel Injection systems?

The Zippers Fuel injection system can be bought to handle the cruise control, but until approx biketoberfest this year they do not accomodate stock harley air cleaners.   Right now you will have to use an EVO style, Macooni, or S&S.   It works great I have one, but due to the inability to handle a stock cover I have decided to leave this system on my 124 motor.

MYCVO,

I had my stock Throttle Body and Intake Manifold both bored out to 48mm for $300.00, which is a cost effective solution. My engineer/wrench told me that unless I was going to rework the heads, change the cams, etc., 48mm is as big as he would recommend for an other wise stock motor.
Now if I planned to do the heads, cams, piston's, etc. later then he suggested going with Zipper's 54mm for that application.

Fatboy.... That sounds like a real good way to improve for short $$ relatively speaking.
This will be another option that I'll blow by the shop  Thanks alot [smiley=biggthumpup.gif]

throttle bodies are also available from HORSE Power iNC. i KNOW THEY HAVE 50MM AND 53MM. They both accept the regular air cleaner covers and air cleaners from H D. I have the 50MM on mine and it runs great (along with other goodies-cams valves performance heads etc.) You can contact them at 814-836-5782 or www.horsepowerinc.net .Oh yah my cruise works great with it .I use it all the time

I used the following
performance heads milled for 10.4/1compression with releases.-Ihave no pinging.
woods gear-drive tw6 cams (touch loud but they work) HPinc throtle body50mm.-more velocitythen the 53 would have had. Stayed with pistons from factory (they are eexellant and don't have extra angles to ping) Reinhart true duals. Power commander.Roller rockers &valve springs.
Dyno# was 120 ft/lb torque(100 at2500rpm 120 at 3500 rpm ) all useable. HP 112.
The HP fluctuated higher on the dyno but was having a problem with a muffler that kept slipping during dyno tune so Hp may be higher. All # are SAE
I ran this setup on my summer trip (7200 mi ) it performed perfect  I had octane as low as 89 lots of 90 and no pings unless I really lugged the thing. Goes around cars trucks etc like a rocket even at altitude.
I did a lot of research with shops out west and down south before I did my build. They work on motors year round not like where I live. I wanted more power without loosing reliability. I seem to have been lucky so far.

Sounds like it runs great :)

Curious if you even tried it with the 43 mm stock throttle body and if so how it ran for you

Thanks for sharing as well :)   Does that make it almost stock or mostly stock since you have the factory pistons hehe

Hey Unbalanced
I did run it the 1st year with just reinharts a PC and air cleaner. It dynoed at !02hp and 106 fp of torque. It ran great and I had no need for more power . I put 15000 mi on 1st season then it started to get cooler. One rainy day I had too much time on my hands and I started wondering WHAT IF???
Can you have too much power?

______________________________________________________________________

When I had my stock Throttle Body and Intake off the bike before having them bored out  I grabbed a gauge from my engineer/buddy and measured the openings on both sides of the throttle body and guess what.............they measured 39mm......hmmm. [smiley=confused5.gif]

My buddy said the stock butterfly measures 43mm but the flow into and off the unit was 39mm.

Fatboy,

uggh .. I am guess all the stock ones are actually a 43 butterfly and 39 flow.  Need a few more to mic it and find out.

Thanks for the feedback good to know.

BTW what did you have yours bored out to and what size butterfly?
