Fatboy,

BTW what did you have yours bored out to and what size butterfly?
______________________________________________________________________

Its now 44mm in and out with a 48 mm Butterfly. He also bored out the ridge's in the intake manifold. When you see a stock unit next to the bored out piece's its really a big difference.

Fatboy it may be nice (he does great work) but it's not Zippers. When you are ready I have another brand new Zippers 50mm throttle body with manifold and air cleaner setup for sale along with another set of brand new 103 plus heads. I also have a bored out stock throttle body  that I am going to sell.

DC,

I went after the quickly achieved & cheap horsepower prior to heading out to Sturgis. Due to time constraints I chose this path.......for now......
We need to talk about the heads you have for sale. Over the winter I may venture into tearing down the motor and boosting the compression, new gear driven cams, pistons etc.
How is your build up coming along?

Brian call me soon! I have the build up already mapped out for everything. I am waiting till I get back from Myrtle to remove the engine from the frame. I am going to do the bearing conversion when I do the motor. I want it to be bullet proof and reliable for a long time as I plan on keeping this bike. Horespower estimates are in the plus 120 range and very reliable for everyday driving. I am getting ready to sell a lot of extra parts that are laying around. SO GET READY FOR THE BIG SALE!!!!!!!!

Dawg,

 Ahhh, Surprise, surprise!

Ask Zipper's (if they'll tell you) who did they buy their 50mm  throttle body patent from?

I think I know the answer.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Take care.

MYCVO,

I had my stock Throttle Body and Intake Manifold both bored out to 48mm for $300.00, which is a cost effective solution. My engineer/wrench told me that unless I was going to rework the heads, change the cams, etc., 48mm is as big as he would recommend for an other wise stock motor.
Now if I planned to do the heads, cams, piston's, etc. later then he suggested going with Zipper's 54mm for that application.

Hey Fatboy,

how does she run with the 48mm throttle body? have you dynoed her yet? Did you have to remap as well?

I am also thinking about going to 48mm, horsepower inc have a 48mm setup they have recomended to me to suit mine (stock 103 with VH bigshots & HD racetuner)

Aussie,

I also added the Race Tuner, a new High Flow Velocity Stack/Air Filter combo and V&H Slip-ons with the stock header pipes.

Big difference's noticeable when on the street. Doesn't feel all bottled up and restricted anymore. The more and longer you twist it the more you feel the power and speed building. Stock it ran ok but you could feel the restriction and hesitation.....not anymore.

Dyno wise my number's seemed a little low compared to what I've seen posted here. Stock I was at 82hp and 90tq. With the mods it became 90hp and 99tq. Simply put a 10% gain. However, my guru uses an 1180 pound wheel on his Dynojet and he claims that makes a big difference over the number's you get with the 875 pound wheel most shops use. (He claims the lighter the wheel the higher the number's it will produce). Also were running the pre programed RT map for a "breather kit & slip-ons" (due to time contraints and his A/F Module being down) so with the map being tweaked a little there should be some more there since we didn't compensate for the increased air flow. I guess I may be running a little to the lean side. And I only had 700 miles on the bike when it was last on the dyno. My number's should be stronger now that's it been about 2500 miles since new and the packing should be burned or is burning off the baffle's.

Bottomline is the bike is running good and is very dependable and to date no one is running away from me more often than not their chasing my tail light. [smiley=banana.gif]

Good luck.

Fatboy,

I am a little confused as it seems we are running very similar set ups (I assume you have Cal #13 installed on the race tuner) the main difference would be the throttle body(yours being bigger), but I already have 98.6Hp (see Attached) I thought I might gain a few more Hp with a bigger throttle body. Maybe I should be looking at cams & compression.

Also can anyone tell me if the stock 103 heads are what they call 103+ heads

Aussie the 103+ heads are different. They are the H/P model of the stock 103 heads. Different chamber, different valves and springs, and set up for a higher lift cam. I am not sure about the port size but I would think the plus heads are larger. This I will know for sure in about 3 weeks.
