Any good GPS under $500?
« on: December 15, 2008, 10:17:30 PM »

I sure like the Garmin Zumo 550 but I think it might be way more than I need, or am willing to spend. I don't need / want satelite radio or bluetooth or even an mp3 player. Can anyone reccomend a good quality GPS for my bike that won't break the bank?

How about the Zumo 450. That doesn't have the XM, BT, etc.? ;)

I have the Megallan Crossover and works fine for me. I can use on a boat, car, camping, etc.. Under 500. Water proof as well.

This is the one that I've had on my SEEG since it was first released.  It has full US maps already loaded, XM radio and satellite traffic and weather (never thought I'd ever need either of those till I had them).  Terrie ordered this unit before Garmin released it a few years ago at Christmas time.

I just bought the same unit for her new Street Glide, on the internet for $270!  I also use it in the truck as well.

I have a Garmin 2720 which is a great unit.  The 2720/2820 have been out of production for a while but can be found on eBay way, way cheap.  If mine craps out I plan to replace it with a refurb unit from eBay - at least until the Zumos come further down in price.

With all the snow in these parts I won't need anything until spring. I sure like the Zumo 450 @ Costco for $350, but of course that is a US only price. The 450 is $650 or more here in Canada. I may just wait till I make a trip down south in the summer. But I will keep my eyes open, and keep looking here, for a deal.
