I would say that you need to software update your radio. I use mine just for my phone works great for me. A little trick you might do if you want to install in the faring and are worried about moister. Put it into a small plastic bag to conceal it from any moister getting to it. I have seen it done and it works........................  :nixweiss:

Hi Christian,

I'm afraid the old module may not work with many phones built later than 2008 - so be carefull.

Hello.

I did install this part on my 2009 FLHTCU. I needed an extra wire harness to do so (around $100). The Bluetooth is obsolete and no more sold from HD. I was unable to have the Garmin Zumo 660 GPS commands to come out of the bike speakers or the helmet speakers as well. I don't think it was originally meant to do so.

I understand HD put out a Road Tech Navigation Interface Module that would just do that, but unfortunately not if you installed the original HD BT Advanced Audio Hands Free Cell Phone Kit (Bluetooth).

Question is: do I remove the original HD Bluetooth and install the Navigation Interface module and get better use of the Zumo? I will have to think about that.

The NIM seems to be less than satisfactory, and will not work with the BT kit, as you know.

My setup on my 09 is:

HD BT kit
HD iPod kit
Zumo 660
Kennedy (www.cellset.com) interface

The Kennedy i/f allows the Garmin audio to come through (and mute the other audio sources) the HK system while maintaining the HD BT kit.  All works well together, though the cellphone audio volume seems to be reduced when the iPod kit was added.

It works with every newer phone I've tried (including the iPhone 4s!) with mine, Hans. It's very old phones that it has a problem with.

I suspect any problems that you think exist with newer phones may be down to the firmware version of the HD BT unit - mine has the very last firmware.

I can buy an original BT-module now, but seller told me that the software is missing. Should be on a cd or something. Dont know anything about the module. Need some help or explanation. Thanks

There isn't any! And no additional software is required.

Incidentally, I noticed that there are two of the HD BT units on ebay at the moment (in Germany as it happens) for anyone who's interested.  FAR, FAR better than using the BT in the 660/665, and by no means obsolete.  Still using mune happily, without problems, and will continue to do so.  But it needs to go in the tourpak, not under the fairing.  I found out the hard way too....

Hi Chris.  If the one you bought is one of the two from ebay in Germany, the pictures show the wiring harness you need as being included:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/HARLEY-ORIGINAL-RADIO-HANDS-FREE-MODULE-BLUETOOTH-INTERFACE-HARMAN-KARDON-/380437883802?pt=Motorrad_Kraftradteile&hash=item5893dd6b9a

Otherwise, yes, you need additional wiring - exactly what you need depends on what your bike is. If it's an Ultra, you need 70164-06.

Which one, Chris?  Did you mean to post a photo with that?  :nixweiss:

You can change the language on them, Chris.  What version is the firmware?

To see the version:

1. Turn your radio on and select FM mode.
2. Press soft keys 1, 3 and OK simultaneously.
3. Press Arrow Down key once until you see the screen as represented in Figure 2.
4. Press soft key 3, labeled “P & A”.
5. Press soft key 4, labeled “Versions”.
6. Using the down arrow key, scroll until you see Bluetooth software version displayed.
7. Note the version.
8. Press soft key 6 to “Exit”.

If your firmware is early, it may not have the Language button - see photos.  (I have no idea where to get a firmware update for them I'm afraid)  I can't see anything in the manual (76409-06 if you don't have one) about it either.
