You've been here for 2 months now and are no longer a 'newbie' sooo... You've got to be joking, right?  ;D

I've been comparing to what I needed to do with my Road King Classic.  Now that bike was a constant work in progress.  On that, I had to add the chrome lowers, different handlebars, chrome hand controls and switches, floorboards, shift levers, brake lever, brake and shift pads, SS cables, radio, tourpack, seat, and the list goes on.  I'm just saying that an awful lot of the goodies I had to add to my last bike are already taken care of with this one.  I still have a list of things to complete on this bike, but it is not even remotely as long a list as buying a standard model.  So, with that, I still stand behind my statement and I think that if I were totally tapped out, I could still enjoy this bike as it is.

CVO's in Europe are delivered with regular stock mirrors, not the nice chrome mirrors standard for CVO's in the U.S.
What do you mean , you know this for sure ? They have different mirrors in europe as on the h-d website is shown ?

I've had them both on bikes i"ve owned.  I would not want to drill into that pretty painted fairing either and the se mirrors that came on the bike liooks and works great for me.  Can that really be repaired if someone wouldn't want them?? I know I wouldn't.

Yes. CVO's in Europe have the same stock mirrors as any other Big Twin.

I rode an 09 Streetglide today, I didn't think the fairing mirrors were that bad (better than expected).

I'm sure a perons's build/physique have a lot to do with it, but I'd have to disagree, at least in my experience.  The fairing mirrors are the one mod. I'd  undo on my SEEG, if I could.  I do like the clean look, but (at least on the SEEG) the stock mirrors offered quite a bit better view.  As far as any safety aspect if you get ejected from the bike, wear proper riding attire (gloves) no matter what kind of mirrors you run!

 :2vrolijk_21:

I never switched mine, after trying the one's that come on the SG models and finding I couldn't adjust them enough to get anywhere close to the field of view I have with the stock mirrors.  I guess it all depends on the individual and how they use their mirrors.  I personally set my mirrors up the same way I do in my automobiles, so that I can see cars in the adjacent lanes right up to the point that they enter my normal peripheral vision.  This requires turning them out further than most people set the mirrors, and I could never get the SG mirrors adjusted that far.

There is another thread floating around here lately from someone with a SG wanting ideas on eliminating those fairing mirrors, so obviously Brian and I aren't the only ones who aren't enamored by them.  All I would suggest is that before you start drilling holes in that $600 inner fairing you arrange a test ride on a Street Glide first.

I installed them on my 05 SEEG (had them painted to match the inner faring)and loved them.  They look much better and the bike looks cleaner.  I did not have them on the 06 am not going to put them on the 09 though, because the Ultra is just a differenct look.

Just have to make sure it's not an early production first year FLHX.  Harley put a lot of holes in the wrong place on those bikes during line assembly; and replaced more than a few in the field after the fact because of it.
