Anyone else seeing 30 mpg highway nothing over 70mph with 93 octane fuel.   Just leisure riding. 

Round town I am seeing 28-30 and highway seeing 29-31.

Local dealer wants to check the fuel pump.  Anyone else have or had any issues like this besides the heat ?

I actually had one of the salesmen at the dealer try to tell me that the bigger the engine, the better gas mileage I would get.  He said that since the engine is putting out less effort at any given speed, I should see really good gas mileage out of a 110 engine.  I turned and asked him if that means I should get V8's in all my cars to get better gas mileage too, and I just got a puzzled look out of him.  As far as the mileage goes, I only have 500 miles on mine so far, and I've only filled it up twice now.  I'm looking forward to getting a final tune and taking to the highways and find out what kind of mileage I'm getting.  I still figure that most of the others that I ride with will still have 5 gallon tanks, and I'll be limited by when they need gas.  I am figuring that based on cruising around 70 mph, I'll see something in the low end of the 30's also.  I would also guess that if I could control myself to a speed of 55mph on a highway trip, I'd see something at least in the higher end of the 30's, but I doubt that I'll ever to able to keep myself in check for that long.

I'm assuming the '09's mentioned above aren't stock, since mileage in the 40's should be easily achievable.  If you're really only getting low 30's, I would guess that the tuning is off, you're running around WFO all the time, or Harley managed to move the leak from the cylinder to the fuel tank.

On mine before the tune, I was averaging around 40 mpg.
Since the tune the mileage is around the same which is great considering I'm riding it harder!
The trailer should lower that some but will have to wait and see.

Stock, I was getting mid to upper 30's.  With the T-max, I was getting upper 20's on a good day.  After the re-build, installation of the Power Commander and tuning by John Golden, I am back to upper 30's/lower 40's.  This is highway riding - 75/80 mph.

It gets me to the cabin up north (300 miles) comfortably with one gas stop - towing the Bushtec.  I lose about 3-5 when towing...

This is not riding it hard or even playing, just out enjoying the day, most of the riding was done at 45 to 60 mph.

On the 07 I was getting around 40 - 42 on the 110 and 38 to 40 after the tune and rineharts and stage 1.   Due to all the issues I went through with the last 110 motor on the B/O I decided not to change anything until i was certain the motor was sound and that all was right with bike, and couple that with the lack of after market pipes really only slip ons to change to.   

I am and was worried that if i tuned the bike without everything being right I would get the typically Harley reply with anything I found wrong.   Looks like it is off to the dealer after the holidays and I will let them tear into it.   They are willing to look into it now that the bike has over 2500 miles and well past the break in.  For a change I think I have found a great service manager, willing to work with you and isn't just brushing off my concerns.

They are thinking the fuel pump is lazy and while one would think it would get you better gas mileage they are saying it would actually cause the opposite and say they have seen it on a few bikes.   Haven't run into it myself before, so I thought I would toss it out here..

Well, I've only been able to put about 15 miles on the new '09 and that was from the dealership to my garage.  The weather has been pretty lousy ever since I took delivery, but I'm curious about the mileage folks are getting on the stock arrangement bikes.  I'd expect something in the 40 mpg plus neighborhood at highway speeds.

I'm getting a consistent 38 city 42 highway MPG with my Jim,s 131. Usually cruse 70-80 on the highway.
