Joe,
Sorry for your misfortune. I hope they catch the SOB's.
On the good side, your granddaughter looks like she had a great Christmas!

Thanks Gary.....not good feeling "violated" and pain in the ass getting chit taken care of. But on a happier note, the grandaughter loved her "Har-Lee" jacket and backpack  :huepfenjump3:

Sorry to hear this Joe! I've had my share of being violated and it's no fun. Two cars broke into and one car stolen in my driveway. Also had someone break into our house and stole jewelry, clothes, and get this, they raided our fridge! Hope they find the thugs that did yours!

We don't buy each other gifts per say anymore, but when we see something we like, we usually end up getting it when possible.  I don't know how many times I told my wife that I like this or that out of Sears Craftsmen Club catalog and then she plans on getting it for, but soon she sees me with it because I went out and bought it for myself.  Then she gave up on me.

This year we were planning on getting ourselves an inexpensive flat screen for a new upstairs TV......... But when things at home crap out you do what you have ta do!

So here was our new Christmast present to each other.

Hey Dan, thats one sharp picture! Can really see the details of the copper! is it hi def??

Actually the picture is just a bit out of focus as I was in darkness when I took it and I had the camera set on e-mail size.

Speaking of copper, I had to re-sweat some of the tubing because the original install had the dielectric fittings on top of two different brands and they would not interchange with the new ones I bought at Home Depot.  The last hot water heater I install went a lot easier than this one did.

It's funny, the old one was working great, the house was built in '99 and all was new then.  When we turned on the hot water we had rusty colored water coming out of the faucets and with the cold water, nothing.  We have city water and no other means to store water than in the hot water tank.  There must have been a crack in the porcelain liner and it was rusting inside the tank.

After about $600 in tank, fittings and some other minor stuff, the rusty hot water is gone.

I hope others faired a lot better than we did this year.

I wish I'd fared as well as you...

First, I got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign at a deserted intersection at 1:30 am. I was stone cold sober and less than 3 miles from home. This is the same intersection where my wife had a bad accident about a year and a half ago... in rush hour on a Friday afternoon. No cops around. The guy who ran the stop sign in front of her -- causing her crash -- got clean away. At 1:30am on New Year's Day with nobody around, there were two cops waiting to flag me down.

Then, we got up this morning and everything was normal. Then, about 11:30, we suddenly had no water pressure. Not two minutes before, my girlfriend had rinsed out a coffee cup in the kitchen sink. We've got to replace 800' of water main from the meter to the house.

Rolling through a stop sign at 1:30am: $100
Replacing 800' of water main: $10.5K
Knowing that your unexpected expenses on the first day of the year have made it unlikely that you'll be able to afford the SERG you have on hold: priceless...
