Tour pack Change on 06 SE UC
« on: December 29, 2008, 02:03:54 PM »

I have an 06 SEUC that I would like to remove the leather tour pack and replace with a full size pack.  Questions??  DO I need a new back rest?  What are the pieces I'll need and tricks to accomplish.   Any pics of someone who has succesfully performed this would be great.  Want to unload the leather pack so if your're interested let me know.

Thanks,
Skyman

A friend of mine just did the same thing to his '07.  Replaced the leather TP with a full size painted to match TP.
He ended up selling his leather TP for $650.00 which meant his total for the conversion was approx. $2,500.00 including all new mounting hardware, a matching backrest, power lock and his very expensive paint job.

His black and orange '07 CVO Ultra now looks amazing, but it's not cheap!

A photo is not readily available, but I'll try to locate a one to share.

Thanks

I added one to my SERK3 for a lot less than that. That paint musta been very pricey. I bought a regular KTP (not the Ultra one) from Jenni and all the required hardware, then sent it to Paint By Gene to match ther paint on my SERK3. Total of all parts (which Gene assembled) and painting was about $1500-$1600 if I remember correctly. Contact Jenni for KTP pricing.

Contact Gene for paint pricing.

$650...Someone got quite a deal. Even without the backrest and speaker pods the leather pack retails for over 2 grand with the auto lock, light, liner, etc

Here you go Skyman,

Here's the photo of my friend's '07 with the painted-to-match TP.
I believe the paint alone cost $1,100.00 which I think was way too much.
I know he purchased everything "new" through his dealer and because he wanted the works such as power locks, CVO TP liner as the '08's & '09's have it was very expensive to build from parts as appose to purchasing a complete TP.  Although he could not order the "Screamin' Eagle" name plate for the back of the TP (due to being a restricted part) he had the painter paint it on.
I think you'll agree that it really looks good, but I would have taken an easier route by purchasing used parts that will be painted anyway and not worry about the locks and liner so much... I also would have found another painter at a more reasonable price.  Also, if you are capable of "re & re" on the TP's yourself, you won't need to use the dealer for everything as he did, which should cut out the labor costs, big time!

But, it does look nice!

Here's the sideview (only one I could find) and I'll post the photo from the rear as well.

gonna do it----will go in tomorrow to start ordering parts.  I hear there is a local person to Sacramento who can match CVO paint--will do autumn haze on the tp.

Looks like I may be able to accomodate the Chief with my leather pack so will lessen the cost pain threshhold.  Looks like my biggest obstacle will be matching the back rest vs buying a new seat and back rest.

Thanks for the pics.

Now that you mention it, my friend did end up buying a new seat and backrest due to the fact that he couldn't get one to match his stock seat.  I imagine you could find a used backrest, then find an upholsterer to cover it to match for less money and have a real unique bike to boot!

Good luck with it.

Hey Grizzly,

Post some pics when you're done.  I was considering the same project for my SEUC.  I figured matching the Autumn Haze would be the hard part.

I can tell you from personal experience that the paint match is an s.o.b.  I currently have a tour pak at the dealer that they had painted only to find out that it did not match.  It cost me $975.00 for the paint and I really don't think that I should have to put up with a bad match.  I am waiting for them to get me an answer, but the answer may be sending it to Gene as I understand he is about the only painter proven to be able to match the light candy cherry/black diamond ice '07 SE-Ultra.
