Thanks for the warm welcome & especially for all the responses. I usually hang out over on HTT & never remember reading anything about this so I figured my best shot was to ask over here & I was right. The dealer told us they didn't know why & that only certain bikes were affected. They also don't have to return the heads to the MOCO & asked me if I wanted them. They have a few sets from other bikes they swapped the heads on so before I took them I figured I would find out what the problem was. Thanks again for the help & I'll tell the dealer about the notification that they obviously missed.
I also asked about the cylinder base leaking problem & was told there was another update on the cylinder o-rings.

Larry I believe the recall affects all 110" bikes built in '07 and about midway thru the '08 model year...but the fix is a joke because it doesn't really address the real issues

Heads are only being replaced on SEUC's, not the other 110's! Stupid? F yeah! But hey, we're talkin the MoCo here!!! STF!!! ::) ;)

On the cylinder sleeve movement. HD told me the sleeve's can move up to .006 to be considered normal. Anything over .006 and they will replace them under warranty if the bike is in the warranty period. The dealer should be checking this when they do the 0905 enhancement. I would suspect that if the bike was out of warranty when they did the enhancement and the cylinder sleeves slipped more than .006 they would still replace them, since you have 2 years to get the enhancement work done.

Let's hear from the silent majority or minority out there - how many of you have no issues with your 110" motor?  I am another one with 10,000 miles and no head leaks yet (fingers-crossed).  Mine is an '08, built in May.

What's this about the heads not having to be returned to the MOCO are you sure? Has anyone else dealt with this? I just can't imagine them not wanting the old heads back.

I was told buy the dealer that they had to send back all engine parts changed on the 110's. HD is checking to make sure the parts are defective. If they are not the dealer gets charged back for them.

Of course, in the case of the heads - they are being replaced as a product enhancement by VIN - not due to an actual failure...   ???

That's what I was thinking too.. how/why could they charge the dealer for a part that the dealer is being directed to replace by VIN. :confused5:

Agree Gary.  I could see if the dealer replaces the heads on a non-enhanceable VIN, then that was at the dealers discretion.  But on a factory authorized enhancement, I can't see even the MoCo being that chitty with their dealers.

Although I am sure there are plenty of dealers who themselves don't make the distinction between warranty work, recall work or product enhancements and lump them all together out of ignorance....

I'm sure that happens, but supposedly, they can't even get the parts for this until they give the MoCo the VIN of the bike to be enhanced.

HD used some data and sent head kits to the dealers.  My dealer said he had 7 sets sitting on the shelf.  In the late fall they were shipped out slowly, but there's plenty out there now, if you 've got an Ultra.

Hoist:

What is the difference between a 110 on a SERK and the 110 on the SEUC? why replace one set of heads as opposed to the other?
