No worries.

Give us a little more of the story on the chrome situation.  These bikes are notorious for peeling chrome, especially in the areas you mention, and H-D knows it.  Are you the original owner?

Great site. Read up on the crome problems a few months back. Can't seem to get mine warranted by H-D. Two wheels right mirror right passenger floorboard and two shift levers. H-D says my bike must have sat next to a cemacal factory.

Yeah, if dealer, you need to go to another one.  A lot of us have had issues with the chrome peeling, but I think to a large extent, everyone's been treated fair.

JMAC.... It's all about the Billet Aluminum and the prep process that proceeds the chroming, that's the issue with these!!  [smiley=furious.gif] Mine like alot of others has had to have wheels and mirrors and floor boards replaced.  When the wheels on mine went the chrome was coming off in large sheets [smiley=shocked2.gif] [smiley=furious3.gif]
With luck when I was at my dealer the Manufactor Rep happened to be there and he told me that if 10 sets of wheels do that THEY WILL BE REPLACED... GREAT !! not that I want to have to do that,, CHIT man I want to be riding!!
He also assured me that the plating issues where addressed and that wont be the case anyways... I hope that he wasnt handing me a plate of horse crap
As I type my 04 SEEG is in for its 20K service and some power change up=grades and oh my 2nd set of floorboards front and back.. [smiley=confused5.gif]
BTW I see that they arnt using the billet on the 06 CVO ultras..

I think that more than ten sets of wheels have been replaced on this web site alone!

Add me to the group of "10"...  I showed my peeling wheels to my H-D dealer, he called the factory and I have a new set on the way.  chit happens, but I'm satisfied with the response from the factory.

I am on my third set of floor boards as of today...my dealer reparied them on the spot, no questions, however still a pain in the a$$...

This is the only bike I have owned that I have experienced this many issues.

Sad for a 30k bike, but at least they are being addresssed at this point...

Jock... It was lucky that they were in the store I keep having to have them ordered in then once again back to the shop  after to change them out. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I e mailed the dealer that sold the bike new in louisville ky service manager said 1st owner took it in they took pictures sent them to the factory and the claim was denied.
I don't know the date of the first claim some time between 8/04 and when i bought it 5/05. I was unaware of the problem untill I picked it up, then waited 2 months for warranty to transfer before my local dealer would submit the claim. Service manager call me 45 minutes later told me it was denied. Called H-D "we don't care about the customer we already have your money service line" was told the claim was still open.
Went back to my dealer was told by the service manager that he talked to the factory and they told him the claim is denied and closed. Service manager then told me maybe I should go to the dealer that I bought it from. Then I had to leave before I blew up.
So my next step my be an attorney. The guys I ride with think it's a joke.
They owner of the dealership told me they would give me a real good price on replacements. I told him I  will not spent one more penny for any thing that is sold by or says Harley-Davidson. Was thinking I should go to Tomahawk Wis. run and hang lemons on it. I heard Willie G. makes that run.
