Occasional Problem When Creating a Post...
« on: January 04, 2009, 05:09:13 PM »

Has anybody had this problem with the WYSIWYG post editor???

When I reply to a thread, I have to give the WYSIWYG edit box a few seconds before I hit the <enter> key. If I don't, the reply gets posted before I can type anything. That's a real pain when I want to insert a blank line (or two) before I start my message after a quote.

BTW, I'm using IE8 (yes, the beta). I have the CVOHarley site operating in IE7 compatibility mode. I've seen some weirdness at other sites with IE8, so this could totally be the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

I have had the same thing happen to me, if I hit enter, before clicking on the body part of the message first.

That's as it should be.  When you reply to a post the "Post" button is immediately the highlighted option.  Hitting the enter key would initiate that action.

Happens to me even if I cleck on the body part of the message first... if I hit return too quickly. Strange... but true!

The "Post" button stays highlighted as active.  So whenever you hit the enter key the post will go; whether you've typed anything yet or not and whether you've clicked in the editing box or not.

Well, not exactly. If I wait a couple of seconds after clicking in the message body box, I can hit <enter> to add a blank line to the message. I just can't be in too much of a hurry.

Could it be your computer is just slow processing that change? :nixweiss:

Ok, we're wandering through semantic differences of when when is (where is President Clinton when you need him).  Once inside and working in the terminal (editing) screen the enter button should give you a carriage return.  Anytime you're outside of it the "post" button is the highlighted button though.  Probably confused things rather than helped them so far.

Gary may be on to something ^ though.  Sounds like some serious latency going on.

Ooooh.... did you say semantics? :ROFLOL:

This happens after I first click inside the box. If I hit <enter> too quickly, It's like I wasn't in the box.

Clear as mud?
